Need fun new car for summer...

So I currently drive a 98 Cavalier 2.2 with the automatic. It's rusting, stuff's breaking, I want to get rid of it.

I can't decide what to buy instead. I get out of school in less than a month and want to pick up a fun car. So far I'm thinking 4th-gen GTI, Civic Si, something along those lines? I really can't decide.

Here's my requirements: must be manual, under about $6k, less than 80-85k miles, quicker than my Cavalier (), and at least somewhat practical.

im willing to be you could get an 02 ls sport with less mileage then you are looking for, and still have money left over. You could probably get an 03+ ls sport for around what your're looking for.

Hmmm good call, an 03 LS Sport with 70k miles comes up at less than $5000 on Kelly Blue Book. I did want to get something different, but at least I know these cars now...

More thoughts?

maybe a mk3 GTI or Jetta? Or if you want newer, then yea, an 00+ J-body is going to be your best bet.
