z28, 305, auto. and i guess something is wrong with the engine. hes asking $900 with new rubber. now is this worth it.. i think the engine would be rebuildable so that alright. is it worth it to restore it?

I love camaro's 305 throw it out and get a reman 350. their a dime a dozen and great base for power. Find your self a Iroc and steal the suspension. and rear brakes. their is alot of reasons to get it the price isn't bad depending on the condition.

Any f-body is worth restoring. I would ditch the engine and drop in a 350 or 383. The tranny depends on what it is. I would personally swap in a Richmond 5-speed or a T-56(six-speed). How is the body on it?

"Project 69'"
1969 Chevrolet C/10, 1/2 ton, 2wd
-Boosted LS1?
-Richmond ROD 6-speed(will get sometime)
-Posi 12-bolt(built w/eaton posi unit and richmond 3.73 gears)
-Disc brake and 5 lug swap
+little extras

3rd gens getting restored is a little pointless IMHO because they were terrible performers out of the box. They are great transplant platforms though.

LSx, the 6 spd, and either a ford 9" or Corvette 12 bolt (that's right, right? I haven't looked @ F-bods in a while) rear-end. The only thing it'd really need otherwise is body stiffening.

i'd buy it. why , you ask? because the value of the f-body is on the rise. restoring an f-body is usually a win/win situation if the project car isn't in too bad of shape to start out with. you say the engine is shot, i would pull it out and rebuild it. why? numbers matching. it's what increases value on these cars, although a hopped up 350/383 w/ a stick can be quite fun. but either way 900 big ones for a camaro is pretty good, you really can't go wrong.

if you're serious about it, my father and i are trying to sell a 9 point (i think) rollcage from our 88 project car. money fell through so we had to lose the car. roll cage was never even taken completely out of the shipping material. all we're looking to do is recoup our loss. let me know if your interested. shoot me a pm or something.

GO PATS!!!

swap in a ford 9 inch rear if you want loads of power for racing or even just driving around.

I have an 84 Z28 with the 305 auto. It's an awesome all around car. I'm selling mine in a few weeks but only because I desperately need the money. Can't go wrong though with restoring an F-body!

I mean I dont know if anyone could tell that I'm only 16 by reading my first post. I'm sure some people may laugh at that, but i figure I wanna learn how to restore a car as early as i can (I obviously havnt done or been around a project, nor has my dad). Know that i am completely green to this, please bare with me. I'm going to have alot of questions, and im sure many ameteur questions, but your responses will be appreciated. I was just woundering on how much i am looking at if i wanna completely restore this car to mint condition, with some decent power. This will obviously be a long, long term thing for me. wheres the best to start? i have my cavy so i dont need to use this car. thx everyone

oh and one more thing, the price should go up as the project goes on, correct? like im not going to put like 5g's er whatever into the car and only be able to sell it for 2g's? how much is the usual appraisal on a completely restored camaro like this one?

I'll just tell you right off the bat its super expensive. Parts are hard to find, and everything for these cars is $$$$. I bought mine hoping to restore it and everything but by the time i priced it all out I was at about $12,000 after motor, exterior, interior and paint. The littlest things can cost big money. Just getting a nice emblem for the front costs you $50+, being 16 I don't see how you'd have the money for a big project like that.

i know its not going to be the easiest to come up with money at my age. but i figure if i break the project into several small projects and work on one or two of those projects a month. like i know it'll take a few years by doing it taht way, and it sorta sux, but thats how its going to have to be. i'm sure my dad will pitch in some money here n there to help me. cant you stay pretty busy while spending 300-400 bucks? cuz thats about what i can fit into my buget as far the car would go.

where do u live 1 HOT Z (Mark A)? not know where you live, im just goin to assume that you live in a larger city in the usa. i live in a smaller town in canada, now i dont know for sure, but wouldnt 12g's go a lil further in a smaller province (SK) than in a larger city? just a thought, i dunno if it has any truth

I have one also, it's an auto with the L69 305 vin code "G", they are not horrible performers out of the box, slow and underpowered yes they are. @!#$ they outperformed the corvette of the same year. Before anyone says it all cars from the late 70's about 86 were @!#$ when it came to power. @!#$ the best engine you could get in 84 in a camaro was the L69 which topped out at an amazing 190hp, and I'll honestly admit that I have beaten the camaro with my 2.4 sedan which is real sad. I've learned that a simple head, intake carb, and headers will get at least 325hp and will cost around $1500. The only parts I'd swap out of an Iroc is the rear brakes(there discs), if your going to swap suspension better off going with Hotchkis, Spohn, or Edelbrock.

Go for it if your looking for a project, just don't expect it to happen or make a difference right away. Modfying cars is a very time consuming and expensive process, do not be discouraged. The more patient you are the better the pay off feels in the end.
