got a 99 bravada, 4.3 AWD (145k mi)
for the last week or so my oil pressure hovers between 40 and 60, but goes up when my rpms go up.. what gives??
any ideas
oil is pristine, and level is perfect - what would cause this? anyone?
oil fill cap is tight, and dip stick is also seated tight.
Just got a new filter.. so I am thinking there is an obstruction somewhere, or my pump is going out....
anyone??
LOL It is suposed to go up when you hit the gas. Calm down everything is normal.
FORGET GIRLS GONE WILD WE HAVE GOVERNMENT SPENDING GONE WILD!
Engine is running, pump is spinning. Rev the engine and the pump spins faster, pushes more oil. Increased flow + same diameter "path" = higher pressure.
BTW if your pump was going you would see less oil pressure.

It just seems like it was pegged in the middle before.. and didn't move..
I have only had the truck for a couple months - maybe I just didn't notice it.
anybody got the part number for the huge metal bar that runs between the right and left of the car that the rear of the engine bolts to for support? I got a huge hole on one side from rust.
actually if the by-pass for the pump is bad you could see above average oil pressure , ie..... peg the gauge into the warp zone
but 40-60 is normal range , cold youll be close to 75-80
