A Question For You Guys... 383 Stroker or B Series
Sunday, February 17, 2008 8:13 PM
So I was having a debate with a fellow JBO Goer... who claimed that a 96 S10 w/ a 383 stroker swap is just as gay as a whiney little honda hatch w/ a 4 cylinder motor...

Now I am looking for the answer regarding.. do you agree? or Not? And if you have an opinion as to why, or why not, please feel free to state your reasoning

Disagree.
A S-10 w/ a 383 can easily run 11s while a hatch w/ a b series will run what? 13s maybe 12s?

lets do the math for the honda kids....

8 ≠ 4

and

V8 > 4 cyl.

therefore:

S10 with V8 > Honda with 4cyl.

383 stroker is an easy swap in a s10 it will be the best bang for the buck as well, more power less money

maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow....... but some day

sounds like a jealous honda fanboy trying to discourage you from getting a truck for less money that is twice as fast as his honda.... and without FI.

6 one way, half dozen another.

honda cx's are around 1700-1800lbs with driver.

getting traction in a sbc s10 will be hard.

i rather have the s10 though if its just a toy

for what its worth, last time i was up at the track, i saw one in full black primer leave on the back 2 wheels and run a 10.xx

Tractions isn't hard. there are tons of things to help traction.

Getting traction in a high powered FWD car will be hard.

Its a freakin V-8 S-10. How is that gay?????

1st you have twice the amount of cylinders and more than double the displacement.
2nd its easier to make power.
3rd RWD
4th its a V-8 in a small truck.
5th it will sound a million times better.
and finally 6th:

Hold
On
Not
Done
Accelerating

Its just different cultures, and your buddy not respecting both of them. I'd rather drive the 383 S10, but I respect both cars for the time and money put into them, as long as they are not hack jobs

S10 > Honda

even if not just a track car. S10 would be fun to drive on the streets. v8, light weight, RWD = fun.

The swaps are easy due to al the aftermarket companies that make parts for that swap. Motor mounts, headers, andthing u need.

1. EVEN in a bubble back, a b18c5 will run @ best a low 14, high 13.

2. a b16a2, in any bubble back runs low 15's, high 14's.

3. If it is in any civic 96+ then the time gets longer. The weight difference causes that.

a 383 in an s10 is much more bad ass, BUT the Honda has it in the twisties for sure.

Just the swap? S10. Fully built at the strip? S10? Fully built S10 vs. just the swap in the honda anywhere else? The honda. First corner. But then, who builds a truck with a 383 stroker to go around corners?

S10 gets my vote. Not only is it a simple swap will lots of options, but it can still be a functional truck after.

No style..................?

I'd watch that friend, pretty soon he's gonna be telling you about his feelings and asking you out for a ride on his vespa. Next thing you know he's talking with a fake accent and telling you what shoes to buy.

Seriously this guy sounds like he might be due for homo-suspicion if thats his arguement. Whats a stylish car in his eyes?

Sounds to me, from your description, his idea of a stylish car is a blue Prius.

Very true sir, my friend has 93 CX with a B18C5, and i pulled a half a car from a 50-100 roll in my subaru which ran a 13.9@99.

I can see where the question is coming from, its just the simplest swap for that vehicle.

Just a regular B series , except for the Type R ( b18c5 ) IMHO just isn't worth it. But a turbo B Series on the other hand .

I personally feel that they are both "old hat" to me in N/A form.

350/383 in a S10/blazer/jimmy .... Meh.
B Series ( Non Turbo ) in a integra,civic,del sol ... Meh.
