Well global warming is a fact, the cause of global warming is under dispute.

i can't say i disagree with him.

I would say that too, it's screwing up any chance to bring my fun cars to the market.

^^^ Not entirely true. The inability or unwillingness to bring electric vehicles or super-efficient engines to market is the culprit.

someone just needs to stick a gun to bush's head and get him to unsign the bill for 35mpg

the idiot is just signing anything

global warming/cooling is a natural function of the world , its been happening long before we were created and will be here long after

this should be put in the war forum because most of what has been said in this thread is completely debatable, and may or may not turn ugly

Not that I'm for the complete buning and pillaging of the planet, but something for the greenpeaceniks to consider...

All of this carbon we're putting into the air has been there at some point in the past. ven if we burn all of the things that our burnable, the earth will have the same amount of carbon.

That being said, we're not killing the earth. We're killing ourselves, and belive me, the slow suicide of the human race is one hilarous show.

One thing is for sure, the green movement makes lots O money. If not a lot of sense all of the time.

Mercury laced lightbulbs. lol. I'm pretty sure the "waste heat" from a regular bulb won't be an issue up here. At least that heat tends to be in the room you are in.

No question though, us big city and suburban dwellers are truely the pigs of the earth. If there is one thing we can do, it's stop the drive through coffee shop!!!!! It's the route of all evil.

I like Lutz. Non PC people are too much fun. At least he's not a hypocrit. I think he has a few jets of his own.

Being at the mercy of a foriegn oil is the real issue. I buy that idea.

Having been educated in electronics, I have looked forward to the time where electric cars are more available. They actually have tremendous potential to be fun.

In any case, we will gladly pay more to travel because it's been justified to us.

fun they are , i had a blast when i test drove the EV1 , and the look on the guys face driving the built up stang , when i killed him in a red light tiff , was worth more than the cost of the car , not to mention the salesman laugh his head off

as much fun as i love all my smog hogs , id still enjoy the use of a electric , or hybrid , they are easier to drive in traffic

I have to agree that I do not want to give up a gasoline engine.

I have never seen an EV1 in person. There is a documentary about the EV1's story out. Pretty interesting.

actually the gasoline and oil we use, emits Co2 which actually is what killed of the dinosaurs...

well the coal and oil we are digging up now actually started to form from Co2 after a plague went by and killed off alot of the species on the earth many billions of years ago...

well anyway global warming is being caused by this Co2

and for the record, global warming isnt completly a nature thing, now seaons of global warming is very common, but the one we are going through is the one thats warming the entire planet and changing all the weather patterns..

i dont want to go on because i know you guys will just bash on what i have to say..

but i had to get my two sense in this

Well, only a tiny fraction of ther Earth's carbon is in the form of C02 gas in the atmosphere. The vast majority of Earth's carbon is buried in seafloor sedimentary deposits and rock and ice. If all of the carbon was burned or released at once (if that was possible), the Earth would be uninhabitable since our atmosphere would be closer to Venus's.

gasoline and oil killed the dinosaurs? News to me.

the majority of coal deposits were laid down 200-600 million years ago during the Cambrian-Permian period. Coal and oil was made from organic materials. Many other types, including these and natural gas, have been created more recently in geologic time. People really don't know what caused the Permian mass extinction.

Back on topic, we all know that global warming is occurring. I'm sure this guy meant human-induced global warming? I hope?

Hahahahaha reading the literary exploits of the JBO Science Division cracks me the hell up. Unless you people actually have some kind of degree in geology, biology, chemistry, or some related field, please stop trying to talk about subjects on which you obviously have no clue wtf you're talking about...

Does global warming exist? Well, even I've noticed the difference in climate here in Jersey in just the last decade. Is human-manufactured pollution the cause? I don't know. What I do know is that when dinosaurs were still around, the entire surface of the earth was completely devoid of permanent ice, like we have now on both polls. Then things cooled down. In fact, I'll even link you to an interesting paper I found via google while looking up something else.

http://www.gly.fsu.edu/~kish/dynamic/global/LS.htm

The simple fact is though, its not the Earth you should be worried about. The Earth decided it had enough of a bunch of ornery 40 foot and taller reptiles a couple hundred million years ago, I highly doubt it will have a problem eliminating a few billion pitiful sacks of meat if it decides we've overstayed our welcome. I'm pretty sure we'll be out of most fossil fuels by the time we manage to make enough carbon emissions to make the planet unliveable.

So how long will it take until we're the fossil fuels for the next life forms on the earth??

ice age happened long before we did

Co2 existed before we did , mabe different concentrations , unless we brought it from outter space it was here before we were

or its the aliens faults

CO2

Please stop breathing out if that is what you think it is. BTW the O in CO2 should be a capital.

Climate porn. That's what all the global warming hubbub is.

The earth heats, the earth cools, the earth heats, the earth cools. It's cyclic. Sure people can say through science and whatnot that they know what happened a kajillion years ago, but nobody was actually there to document it in truth. The animals that were there, well they aren't saying much cuz well they're a) animals b) dead.

I'm on the fence on the whole idea, there are strong cases made for both sides of the argument.
