Saw my first '08 Mustang Bullitt Today
Sunday, January 27, 2008 9:28 PM
Took a drive over to Uftring Ford in East Peoria and lookie what I saw out front!

(Apologies for camera phone quality)

Looks better in person. List is $31K but I'll bet they fetch a few grand over that right now. Still needs a good set of springs & some side louvers over the rear windows to make it look more like a '68 in my opinion...but I like it.

Anyone else see these out on the streets yet?

SMH... they need to change the body style already. This car feels like a re-run of Andy Griffin.

Just looked it up on ford's website.
$3310 for an intake, 3.73 gears, wheels, brake pads, some billet pieces, and a few other knick knacks.

ouch

There's one at my local dealership sitting on the showroom floor (next to Shelby GT & Shelby GT500 that haven't sold in the few months they been there as both are well over MSRP pricing) with a big "SOLD" sign on it. I sat in it for a little bit...didn't feel like I was sitting in anything special. While it is special, it's not special enough to fetch anything over MSRP. Personally, I'd rather build my own "Bullitt" if I had a GT, seeing how 99.9% of the parts are out there in the aftermarket, all provided by Ford right down to the Bullitt cosmetic stuff...just like the Shelby GT500 stuff.

I like it. But like James said above, if all the parts are available, you could probably build it just like that, but also add some exhaust and lowering for the same price...

I honestly love how toned down it is, just read about it the other day in a magazine.

Meh, just another Mustang to me. I'm way too tired of all the Mustang types that are out there and they all look relatively the same.

Well, since they don't sell any of them right now, correct.

But you are also one in a 200k a year crowd.

Considering they were mass produced, the F-bods aren't sold anymore and the GTO's were a limited offering because they had to be built in Australia...

Well, I'm coming up with 2 words...

UBIQUITY:
u·biq·ui·ty /yuˈbɪkwɪti/ [yoo-bik-wi-tee]
–noun
1. the state or capacity of being everywhere, esp. at the same time; omnipresence: the ubiquity of magical beliefs.

MONOTONY:
mo·not·o·ny /məˈnɒtni/ [muh-not-n-ee]
–noun
1. wearisome uniformity or lack of variety, as in occupation or scenery.
2. the continuance of an unvarying sound; monotone.
3. sameness of tone or pitch, as in speaking.

Yep, that's Mustangs these days.

That plus aren't all of GM's sells divided between Chevy/Pontiac/GMC? I think I remember somebody saying that Ford trucks were named the #1 sellers only because GM's sells were divided between Chevy and GMC? I may be wrong but I still say GM>Ford.

Depends.

Ford hasn't been #1 in sales in ages anyhow.

^^^
Because of the split between the GM brands.
But Ford bunches all of the trucks under F-series so even the 650s count.

Cool, be unique like everyone else. The GTO is so cool in its Grand Prix design. Not to mention all the GM clone cars, like G5/Cobalt.

Mustangs are sporty and economical. It may not be the fastest or best handling, but its never the less fun and not hard on the eyes.

O noes!

Oh.. you must be one of those people that can't tell one car from another, a GTO looks, sits and sounds a LOT different than the Grand Prix... but that's all the better to stomp mustang drivers. You don't have to look fast to be fast, and looking fast when you're not fast is like stuffing a sock in your jockey shorts.

True, but they're neither economical nor sporty together. To get the economy you need the V6, to get the sport you need a V8, and either way, you need to fuel it and hope you're getting over 24mpg.

I'm not partial to the look of the Mustang, nor the Bullitt... Really not much enamoured of the whole "retro" thing really. If Ford wanted to do it right, they'd actually manufacture the original Bullitt to today's standards, and make it a limited production run of 5,000. Considering that Ford couldn't keep their GT supercar on the books and manufactured without electrical gremlins creeping in (For 110,000 it should be perfect)... this doesn't surprise me much at all.

This is the first I've heard of Ford GT's having electrical gremlins. How many high end cars have issues, like BMW, ect. Short lived? What was the GTO? You guys find anything to pick on Ford. Too many Mustangs, and then they didn't make enough Ford GT's? Make up your mind.

No, I can tell the difference. I know cars. However, somebody with less interest wouldn't be able to tell if they didn't pay much attention.

The Mustang GT doesn't get that bad gas milage, either. Hell, a lot of Cobra guys are getting 23 MPG with 4.30 gears. For the price that you can buy a GT, compared to similar cars, its a good value.

I'm not a retro style guy, either. I don't know about the production numbers, but I know when they did it back in 01, it was a limited run, with the Dark Highland Green being very limited produced. Not sure on their plan now.

O noes!
