Bye bye Cavy. Hello Tibby.

Well the day has come for me to move past my J. For some reason I loved that car, even with all it's problems, but it was overdue. So went down and picked up this beauty the other day. It's a 2005 Hyundai Tiburon GT V6. This thing is a HUGE step up from the cav. It's quiet, smooth as hell, and decently quick. I love it to death. Anyways, on to the pictures. Forgive the crappiness as I haven't gotten a chance to remove to dealer crap and go out and do a nice photo shoot with it. And I'll have some daytime photos up tomorrow.

Ha! I test drove a 04 at Sutherlin Nissan once and it was beat all to crap and over priced. That one looks good though.
I actually bought my 00 Z24 from them and my firebird but after the bird Im never going to buy from them again. They were much better before they made the used car lot.

Hey if you see a guy driving a teal Firebird with the license plate PLOAD give me a honk and I'll wave.

They weren't bad at all for me. The guy who helped me, Bobby I think, was nice. Not pushy at all and genuinely a nice guy. The price wasn't bad at all either, 14,500 before all the dealer fees, extended warranty and gap insurance and such. I'll keep an eye out. I actually live in the Cape so I don't go to Fort Myers real often.

Thanks. It's such a blast to drive. I still have the cav for a short while and getting into it after riding in the tib makes me wonder how I did it for so long. Haha.

i would have gotten one over my tC if it wasn't for the horrible gas mileage that they get

still a great improvement over the cavalier

Coolness! What does she pull in the 1/4 or supposed to pull in the 1/4?

Love the color of the car. Interior is pretty sweet. Not a bad ride. I've liked those cars myself.

Your cavy was better! But why did you get an auto? I test drove one with a standard six speed and it was pretty awesome!

First off. thanks to everyone for nice comments. Glad others like it as much as I do.

[quote=Keeper Of The Light™ (Strazca)]Coolness! What does she pull in the 1/4 or supposed to pull in the 1/4?

According to msn autos, however correct they are, it's 16.1 or so. Haven't tried it yet, but it feels damn quick. But, it's only got 170 horses or so. It's definitely not a huge V6. In any case, it would smoke the cav and that makes me happy.

The interior was really the selling point for me. It's leather and nice as hell. It needs nothing in my eyes.

slick02eco wrote:Your cavy was better! But why did you get an auto? I test drove one with a standard six speed and it was pretty awesome!

Haha thanks. The cav looks good in my sig, but the paint was horrible and it had a LOT of miles on the car. I'm in the process of fixing a few things and hopefully selling it for what I owe on it. Anyway, when I began my search for a tiburon I wanted a manual. I've never had a manual car but I figured it would be fun. There were a couple about 70 miles or so away that were in my price range and manual that I was going to go look at. But we decided to check this one out locally to make sure a tib was what I definitely wanted before driving all over creation to find one. I saw it and fell in love with it, especially the interior. The only downfall was auto. But I decided, what the hell, and went for it. It does have the shiftronic or whatever the hell it's called so I can actually shift it myself. It's not quite the same but does add some fun.

Thanks. The sub was a pretty cool extra. I like it looks like it belongs and leaves me the entire hatch/trunk area free. It's a pretty decent setup.

Yea, understandable. It hasn't been a big issue because it seems to get the same mpg my Z got in town so far. Right at the 20 mark.

tibs are a good car, much better in quality over a cav
hell, i got my dad's elantra right now, and its miles above the cav in interior noise (well, lack there of) and is just better built all around
great pick up, my mom has the tucson with the same v6 and 4wd and it has some pep to it
its not a huge torque monster, but it gets the job done

I must say I am really impressed with the interior. I can't think of anything else in that price range with a nicer interior, and I can think of several cars in higher price ranges that don't impress me that much inside.

Good job.

Wow...don't take this wrong, since i do like Tibbys, but I thought they were quicker. What size of V6 does it have? Also, how do you like the tapshift on it? Also, how many speeds is that auto? I recently upgraded, went from Callisto, my SFGT, to Skađi, my G6 GXP. Believe me, going from that 2.4 I4 to that 3.6 VVT V6 (150 HP to 252hp) and the 5-speed to the 6-speed tapshift was one hell of an improvement.

Granted, it's not a full manual, which kinda sucks, but at least i have some control and only have to put up with the auto lag.

And I agree with Gutty--the interio does remind me a bit of my G6, but I paid a hair under 30k for her brand new, that tibby should have been a lot less expensive.

Anyhow, good luck with her, she's definitly a nice ride.

I dont know man, I can hang with my brothers Ion Redline(210 hp or so), I can definitely take him off the line into about 3rd gear then he takes the lead, not bad for a 2.7 vs a 2.2 supercharged

Id never go back to a sh;tbox jbody after owning my Tibby

Shoulda got a 6-speed though....way more fun, but regardless, Nice Car!

Oh ya to boost the bass on the sub, switch the wires, little trick I learned on the Tibby forums

The only bug I found so far is for some reason when Im going around corners like onramps or something like that my power steering goes out, really fricken weird then once I get going straight again, it kicks back in. Checked my fluid and its fine.

Look into Tein springs if your lowering it, Ive got a 3" drop up front and 2.5" in the rear.

Everyone gets a kick out of my license plate too......for all you Wedding Crashers fans

Much agreed. The build quality is light years beyond the cavalier. I can cruise at 60 and not be blown around and deal with the horrendous engine and wind noise that came with the cavalier from day one. And yeah, it's not a huge engine, but it is faster than the cav and nothing to complain about.

Thanks. The interior is what really sold me. The seats are comfortable as hell why looking cool as hell also. Like you said, not much in that price range can compare. The dash is nice looking as well as the gages. I love it.

No offense taken. I knew it wasn't a speed machine. It's a 2.7L I believe. It's got some pep and is decent on the gas mileage so I can't complain. As for the tapshift, I like it a lot. It gives me the ability to have some of the fun of a manual while not having to worry about stop and go traffic and such. Plus it downshifts for you in case you forget which happens for me since I'm knew to it. It's definitely a cool little feature.

Yea, I would have loved to find a 6speed, but the car was there and a decent deal. I read about the sub on newtiburon.com where I've been browsing for a while now. It'll be done very soon. As for lowering it and such, I don't know if that'll happen. Definitely not for a while. Pretty much just want to get the windows tinted, my headunit swapped over and maybe an intake. Keep it simple for a while. That may change in the future though, . And love the plate.

I just meant that my SFGT, extrapolating out, would have probably hit 15.8 bone stock--which is why i thought the Tibby in the V6 config was faster. Ahh well

Believe me, i do agree on the tapshift being fun. What's the Auto-lag like? In my G6, from 1-2 it's bad, 2-6 they are slick as hell. Plus, i agree in gridlock on the hills it's pretty useful (i'd give my upper left nut for a dual-clutch 6-speed though.

How many speeds is yours? I know the G6's that contain the 3.6 have a 6-speed, and the 3.9's, 3.5's and ;ess if they have tapshift are the 4-speed.

Still, i've been a fuge fan of the Tibby's looks, you've done really well

P.S. Alexis, being a woman, can drive a Miata without making everyone's gaydar hit the "Christopher Lowell" level. .

Hyundai > Current GM compacts.
The Tib looks superb. With a manual the car is good for mid-low 15. The suspension is very stiff, with build quality that should last, good materials through and through. For the last 5 years, Hyundai has been having excellent reputation and is one of the only companies that does not looses in sales yearly.
I dig hatchbacks and Tibs especially the 08 model.
Congratulations.

Hey nice car. I switch from a 1998 Sunfire GT to a 2006 GT Tiburon Limited. I'd agree with you thats its a step up from a sunfire. That's the color I wanted to get when I wanted to get the Tib. I couldn't pass up the deal I got for mine. 5speed, beige leather, fully loaded for $14,500 and only 13900miles on it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Oh BTW, the sub mod might not include you. I think it was most 2003-2004 models. You'll have to look through the thread to make sure.
