hey I'm getting my license back soon and im looking for a nice, cheap, reliable car. Craigslist has an 89' bimmer 325i. 5 speed, with new water pump, radiator, fan, and fan belt. also has fairly new brakes and exhaust. 150k and unfortunatley it is a 4 door. Does $1800 seem like a decent price to you guys? I hear these little 2.5 6 bangers run forever but I'm no bmw expert so i'm not sure if the price is fair or not. Any info you guys could throw my way would be great. Thanks
Steve
Regardless of the year maintenance is going to be a little pricey...
I know that bmws are a little pricy to maintain I'm more concerned about overall reliabilty (assuming it is taken care of) and whether or not the asking price of this specific e30 is reasonable or not. Anyone have any experience with these cars?
Steve
Not bad on maintenence or reliability, but bare in mind you're talking about a car that's on the verge of being called classic: $1800 doesn't sound bad, but get all the info you can get from the current owner.
went and looked at it today. seems OK. 5 speed tranny has a little slop in the shifter, may need bushings or somthing. body is is decent shape for the year and it being in new hampshire. just one little spot behind the right front wheel well that needs some body work other than that it seems to be all there. i said the most i'd give him is $1500. He said he'll give me a call. we'll see what happens.

My other car is an interceptor.
