Like GM didn't have enough of these models already, but they will start selling the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse crossover this fall, Mark LaNeve, GM North America's head of sales, service and marketing confirmed this week at the North American International Auto Show. The cousin of the Buick Enclave, GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook, the Traverse will be built at the Spring Hill, Tenn., plant that formerly built the Saturn S-series, Ion and Vue.
GM expects to sell 80,000 to 100,000 of the Chevrolet crossovers annually in North America. Chevrolet reports that it doesn't have plans to export the crossover.
GM's Spring Hill Assembly plant is being retooled to build the Traverse, with assembly expected to begin this summer. The vehicle will be available for sale in the third quarter of the year.
Chevrolet's expected volumes are higher than any of its cousins, of which nearly 137,000 were sold in 2007 after a full year of sales for the GMC Acadia and Saturn Outlook and a little more than half a year for the Buick Enclave.
I don't have the pics of it, but I will post them as soon as they come. Here what the Traverse is based on.

MIAMI HEAT
NBA CHAMPS!!!
I actually like those. If i were to get one though, I would get the Enclave or the Acadia Denali which comes out in 09 also.
Why when ever GM gets a hit, they whore it out to all the brands? They can't get it throught their stupid heads that Badge engineering over kill is what makes them a punchline. I personally think the Saturn one was one extra "shared" model too many.

I have no problem with "wannabe-trucks". I'd rather have SoccerMom Suzie driving an Enclave rather than a 6 ton Suburban.
That being said, GM once again misses their target market. Most crossover sales are typically replacing middle-class SUV sales; people that want the concept and image of an SUV but don't need a truck. The branding they had for the Enclave and Acadia were perfect, and they tossed the Outlook in for a bit down-market or "modern" option. Chevrolet buyers typically are after basic transportation or trucks. All they'll do is weaken yet again another decent platform by trying to make 5 of the same car.

I had heard that 2008 will be the last year for both the Uplander and the Trailblazer, and they would both be replaced by a Lambda (which we now know to be the Traverse). Did they change their minds again?

Did Saturn ditch the Relay? That was such an ugly flop.
