2009 Cadillac CTS-V
Tuesday, January 08, 2008 5:39 PM

Launching in the fourth quarter of 2008, the new CTS-V is meant to combine sports-car performance with luxury-sedan poise. When it goes on sale, the V will be equipped with a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 generating an estimated 550 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. Transmission choices include either a six-speed manual or an exclusive, six-speed automatic with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. It is the first automatic offered on the CTS-V.
Ride height 0.6 inch lower than the base CTS, with spring rates 10 percent stiffer and magnetorheological shock absorbers like those found on the ZR1. Michelin Pilot Sport 2s promise to find grip where lesser tires might give up, while decelerative duties fall to Brembos all around. Up front are 14.7-inch rotors squeezed by six-pot calipers, with 14.4-inch rotors and four-piston pincers in the rear.
The CTS-V also features Performance Traction Management system, which uses electronics to manage engine torque for optimal traction during acceleration. In situations such as acceleration from a stop or exiting corners, the system regulates torque delivery for the best possible launch. The interior will feature Recaro seats. A microfiber material is added to the steering wheel, seats and shifter, providing the feel and appearance of suede.
Expect the CTS-V to cost around $62,000 when it goes on sale this fall.

Whoa, wtf, only $62,000? Is that right?

Doesn't the current Z06 start at $72,000 and boasts only 505HP?

Not as visually menacing, or attractive as the last CTS-V. And i think the regular CTS is better looking this time around.

Personally something that i don't like much of the 2008 CTS is the grille and the material used. This car fixed it.
This car will kill the E63, M5, RS6 and still have money in your pocket for more goodies.

yes but that horrible resale value is whats going to let me get one in 2 years.....

no way i'll pay 62k for a car...

30-45k though... especially for that... I wouldnt think twice, I'll never buy new again. Certified pre-owned is where its at

wait till real world pictures and views come out, it will be effin gorgeous..

when they launched the new cts, i was like meh... Now it makes me think my car looks cheap

The auto tranny is sure to sell the car better than ever before. It will likely help with resale too. I wonder what resale will be like now that GMAC stopped leasing? At least they did here in Canada.

I like the car.

I want the coupe!

I like it, but I would still rather the standard CTS for the AWD.

I can't remember if the Nurburgring video was posted. I'd say that it might be fast enough.

whats detuned about it? or is that just the numbers so people dont know its the same setup? kinda like what gm with the 98-02 Fbodys having 300-320hp ls1's and the corvette having a 350hp ls1. worried about sales on their flagship car?
