well ive been thinking of getting myself an 09 eclipse sometime next year..... but if i follow the pattern, the eclipse should be due to be redesigned for 2010....... any one know anything? i tried googling it and came up empty handed...
getting an 09 vs a newer model 010...... i would definitely go with the newer model, and i can wait too, since i dont NEED a new car, i currently have my jbody and an 06 cobalt thats still under warranty.... so waiting is not a problem.
so if anyone knows anything, post up... thanks
btw, any other redesigned 09, 010 models u would consider? the only requirements are around 26k or below... and it has to be a new model.
it is a nice car, but the sticker prices on them here up in Canada @ dealers is staggering, AN evo 10 will be only a little more

This is all I got. Mitsubishi on Tuesday said it would show a coupe concept maybe a preview of the next Eclipse. With the Concept-RA, at the Detroit show. The concept will have plastic body panels mounted to an aluminum spaceframe. That spaceframe is a combination of extruded pieces and die-cast sections.
Under the plastic hood is a 2.2-liter, 16-valve, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine with piezoelectric fuel injectors. Among the wizardry is variable valve timing and a turbocharger with variable vane technology, for more oomph at low rpm. Mitsubishi says the engine is rated at 201 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque.
For the chassis, Mitsubishi has raided the Lancer Evolution parts bin. The Concept-RA gets the six-speed, dual-clutch, automated manual transmission from the Evo. Helping to keep the wheels planted is the Super All-Wheel Control system, which bolsters the basic traction- and stability-control units with active steering and active damping systems.

310 ft lbs of torque? damn thats gonna rip it up off the line!
NO SIG FOR YOU!
Whats with Mitsubishi throwing everything from the Evo into everything?? First the MI-VEC, then the dual clutch, the 5 speed, etc, etc. Kinda ridiculous. That concept pic is vicious looking though!
Wow... Turbo and AWD are back possibly? I hope so... Fwd is weak. And the 2nd gen eclipse is gettin too old for me to find a decent one... And the diesel only sweetens the deal. I hope they stick along these lines.

LOL
that looks pretty sweet......................... sadly, im sure mitsu will tone down the production model a considerable amount.
i sure hope its an 010 model though, and is released sometime in mid 09.... hopefully.. i dont want to have to wait an extra year for it, because if thats the case i might as well go out and buy something else.
Concept looks awsome. Kinda like a 2 door EVO.
I think mitsu is the only company that doesn't significantly water down their production models. The last eclipse and lancer have been quite close to the concepts.

well ill tell u this, if it looks close to that, they already made a customer happy
if it actually looked like the concept picture and came with the turbo/awd and massive torque, then itll actually be worth the 30k price tag
NO SIG FOR YOU!
I have a 2007 Eclipse and I am starting to regret it. There is hardly no aftermarket support for the vehicle. Mitsu will not build a vehicle to rival the Evo, especially with the Evo X coming out soon. I am actually looking at getting back into a J-body now. They car is pretty amazing though. If it only had more support in the aftermarket realm it would dominate. Check these sites out for some more info. www.club4g.org and www.club4geclipse.com.
Here's the sites that sell parts for the eclipse.

You;d think the market for E parts woud be pretty good. Guess not
Nope, the majority of people buying them are not into modding so there hasn't been much of a market for mass production of parts.

Isn't it bizzare to hear that? If you would have told tuners in 1998 that exact quote about the future Eclipse they'd laugh at you. It's amazing how far the Eclpise has fallen.
And as for Goodwrench's concept pictures...am I the only one that looks at them and really just sees a reskinned version of the current one? I have a feeling the'll take styling cues from this concept and graft them to the current car. Not that, that's bad....but there's too much to this car that just looks like an overdone version of the current car for me to believe this would be an all-new car.

I really heavily doubt that the Eclipse will ever see a turbo AND awd again as long as the EVO is still on these shores. More likely that the Eclipse would feature a detuned EVO motor in FWD trim as a competitor in the MazdaSpeed3/CobaltSS turbo/GTI segment, IF they do anything with it at all.

A sportscar oriented turbo AWD DIESEL
is original in the market.
There is nothing similar that comes to mind????

actually, the next Lancer Ralliart will be the competitor in this segment.
^^ probably true...
good thing for me is that im not interested in the awd/turbo. i just want it for daily driving, and to me, it seems like its the nicest car for that in its price range.
I like the AWD, it would be my daily driver if it was awd/diesel... Damn Canadian winters.

If all you want is a DD with looks and styling, then yes, this car is the best. It looks and feels so much like an exotic. I get stares all the time from people in other cars. The Eclipse is slowly falling off from the Mitsu product line. All their efforts are being put into making the new Evo and Lancer better. They created the Eclipse Ralliart only to keep sales up. You will never see any of those parts come out in production. It's a shame for those that want performance, but not the over priced Evo.
