Does a fully loaded 02 Sierra SLT with 96,000kms, for a 07 G6, with decent options, and 12,000kms sound like a good straight up trade? Or should I try to hold out for the car and money?

Depends on your needs, do you use your truck for a truck purpose?
I think depends on the need, personally I use my truck for truck reason (Construction, Dump runs, etc)
so I would take the truck.

I have the truck because I need the 4wd. I live on a big hill, and drive all back roads to work. But, it costs me $600 a month in gas.
With the car, it would be like half, less then half the cost of gas, and I could just take the main roads to work. The driveway would still be a huge issue though.
The GF has to park the car at the bottom, until I clear the way with the tractor. then it's ok, but that would mean I would have to park and the bottom, and WALK up to get the tractor. Then WALK back down to get the car.

i went from a 2000 silverado 3/4-ton to a G6... big mistake. Almost a year to the day I traded it in for a 2007 sierra. You'll regret getting rid of your truck.
well, they sold it on me. Oh well, back to the old drawing board.
I think the G6 was too small anyhow.

seriously, better gas mileage and awd... might be a good option for ya.
I have thought about an AWD car, but I still get the problem of ground clearance.
In the last picture, where the tree/rock line hits the road, it is nothing for us to get HUGE drifts there, that sometimes, I can't even get the truck through.

I'd love to live there for summer, lol. I bet winters are hell. I can't stand the cold.
AWD seems like your best bet. What about a midsized SUV? They have better ground clearance than a car and hell, my CRV gets 22-26mpg. Dunno what your truck gets, but I see 9-11mpg in my truck.
run some nokian snows on there in the winter and a subaru will be damn near unstoppable... just plow through.
When it drifts up, the Subaru would have no chance. I don't care what tires are on it.
Some days, I can't even get the truck through. What chance does a little car have?

i dunno... i walked through places my buddies lifted jeep had problems with in my 96 legacy wagon and a set of a/t's when we used to go offroading...
Lifted Jeep? Probably had mud tires on it right? Mud tires are terrible in the snow.
