Leasing a G5, Aura, or other commuter beat box.

Sister needs an A-B beater box and it seems GM Canada is having there 'annual' all year clearance event.

Saturn Aura XE - 265/mo (29MPG)

Pontiac G5 SE - 218/mo (35MPG)

48 month lease with 0 down, fully warranty, and all that other crap. Both are fully loaded with auto, power options, cupholders, and all that sh1t.

Im thinking lease as opposed to going Used or Financing for a few reasons ... 1st, no reason financing a car that is going to be worth sh1t in 4 years when a lease would of run out, 2nd, it comes with a full warranty and all that BS so I dont have to get calls at 2AM that the car wont start an is making 'funny clicky noises' while getting head from two blonde asian sisters, and 3rd I do not want her to actually own any one of these cars as the novelty of a new car wears off fast and she will grow to hate whatever we buy. She is a college kid that needs wheels for 3-4 years. Thats it.

Now, what do you all think about the choices above?

The G5 is cheaper, smaller, and gets better gas mileage. Total lease cost is $10,464.

The Aura is built better (Id imagine), probably better on insurance, and I can drop an LS4 into it. Total lease cost is $12,720.

Tips, ideas, opinions, suggestions?

I looked at Ford and Chrysler's line up as well as the Big 3 have perpetual annual clearance sales but found nothing ... and I laugh at the lease rates on Honda's, Toyota's, and basically any other car with a re-sale value (which are linked together, if you didnt know).

I love our new project Aura with the 3.6L. The car is quick, quiet at 80mph, and rides nice.

Good idea on a lease man and go for the Aura, if fuel efficiency is a must, try the hybrid it get a little better efficiency then the regular model. It is better engineered, roomier, and 4 door practicality.... lately I'm missing that so much.

Aura appeals to my eyeballs more than the G5, but the G5 is better on MPG and cheaper. I haven't heard of any reliability issues with the G5s, so that's the way I'd probably go if it's just a lease, no sense in spending more for the Aura, unless of course you actually do drop an LS4 in it.

Do something interesting: RWD LS9 in a G5.

Otherwise do what other college kids do: buy a beater, run the piss out of it, light it on fire after graduation and collect the insurance.

Word.

As for the cars, both models are Sedans, and GMs super awesome amazing fantastic clearance special only applies to the Aura XE Model

That is what I am thinking, considering she will be the one driving it.

The Aura is probably a much better car, so if you have the few extra thousand to spend on it, I'd go for the Aura. It's probably alot safer too.

Well... you CAN do that with a lease, but, let's face facts: younger individuals will look a whole lot less suspicious burning a beater than they would a lease that's not going to be worth SFA anyhow... ESPECIALLY when they choose to dispose of dead hookers in the trunks.

BTW, use a packet of magnesium shavings on the person next time... I'm tired of covering for your f**k ups Jinxed.
