Yeah, that is a VERY cool project. I love it when people thing outside of the box. I like the fact that he if sticking to the gxp theme and is also pushing the firewall back to get a good weight distribution. I just bought a car that I plan on doing a swap with (91 mr2) and it will be out of the ordinary too.

I have seen those cars done with v8's more than once.

even with the power of the stock turbo eco he will shatter the rear.

every v8 chevette project I have ever seen does not run. the guy who did it dumped all his money into the motor and swap. the first day out 1/4 throttle shatters the rear. and then apon realizing how much of a fab job a decent rear before you know the car is for sale.

when I initially saw the title to this topic, I just started shaking my head...

Eco + Corvette...

but, I went to the link and was breathing normally again.

awesome project. I wanted to put an Eco into a Corvair.

i had a 72 panel wagon , best car ive ever owned , and it had a rebuilt vega motor in it

mine was bright blue with a light steel blue stripe like the GT models had , chevy bow ties painted in the panels , sunbird/astre snowflake wheels painted to match , split front bumpers like the RS camaros from 70-73 , and 67 camaro "SS" emblems on it

it looked and handled like a SS should , just was lacking the V8 under the hood , but i had a 350hp 327 for it tell my dad sold the motor to his friend which pissed me off and i made my dad by me another car , LOL

which i still have

Sweet!

My dad bought it new in 1976 and was the orginal owner until he passed it to me in 1995. The car was a base model and it had the 2.3L OHC "Durabuilt" I-4 w/ Iron head and aluminum block (Good ol' GM lol) with a 3 speed manual, red interior with cloth in the middle of the seats, 2-spoke steering, and it was silver on the outside. The only option out side was the black rub strips on the bumpers. Let me tell you it was all original, spare tire, brakes, engine, tranny. The car ran like a champ, start up took 2 cranks... yes on a carburator, that's how well I had it tuned. The only problem that it had was the roof's paint got dull and in 1990 it got a repaint... not so good either. But it had no rust and chassis was mint. The chassis was shared with Camaros too.
At the time, there was no LSx to plop one in there, now I kick my self in the ass for selling it for $900 and using it to buy my S/F se.

dam sounds like it woulda been a great play toy with a LSx motor in it

that woulda kept the weight under 3k , and took alot of nose weight off it too , when compaired to doing a regular small block swap

and now a eco solstice/sky swap would be even better

wish ida had the cash to offer this couple money for their 71-72 vega i saw in quartsite , it was a base with the power glide , seriously the car looked brand new and untouched

When I clicked I was expecting to find a hybrid Corvette, lol. Man, that's amazing. I really wish I had that sort of talent/ability to work. A project like that would be amazing.
