ive actually had that happen a few times, sort of, to my 97z. instead of braking, i would gently press on the gas and it felt like the cruise control resume was kicking in and the pedal would be floored. i had to stomp on the brakes two or three times to get it to stop. luckily it only happened a few times and i never ended up hitting anything.

but on topic......whats toyota's deal? how many million cars and trucks have they recalled so far this century? looks like they are finding out what its like to play in the big leagues.

My uncle had that happen in a Buick Park Avenue. Amazingly the engine had more power than the brakes did, and even with the brakes mashed down, it kept speeding up. He eventually thought to shut the engine off.

so... what you're saying, is that while the motor is accelerating, you put it in neutral and take the load off of it? so the motor will accelerate even faster?

whats funny i had the throttle stick wide open on my 70 SS camaro with a 400whp small block and i was able to stop it from 120mph , on crappy wore out brakes

people now a days arent intelligent enough to push harder on the brake pedal , get to a safer speed and shut the motor off

granted the vehicles should take off on their own , but people gotta be taught on what to do

just like the jackasses using cruise control on FWD vehicles in the rain.
