Dual exhaust options for the Sierra

What kind of muffler should I be looking at?

I want something that will look good, be a little deeper down low, but shut up nice and quite when I am at highway speed.

Also, for the breakouts, what do you suggest? Bent sideways out behind the tires (seems to be the new thing around here), straight pipes out the back under the bumper, around the spare (the old way around here)

Or, I was thinking around the spare, up tight to the bumper, but two nice big dual outlet tips on each pipe to finish it off.

Opinions?

Thanks.

I saw so many damn dual exhausts around here that I went (what looked like) outside the norm and kept the stock dump w/ a nice tip & new piping.

As for the muffler, look around and find something unconventional, everything around here has the classic 'Flowmaster' sound, meaning, every truck sounds the same.

does corsa make one for your truck?

a little pricey, but they "tune" their products for sound....

I was at the shop getting a exhaust leak on the GTP fixed yesterday, and the guy told me he sells two mufflers to people that want duals on the trucks.

A Flowmaster, for loud all the time, or a Magnaflow for people that want a little rumble, but not much over stock.

I think I will opt for the Magnaflow, I just would like to hear one in person first though. I drive way to far, way too early in the morning to be drowned out by a load exhaust.

Thanks for the help guys, keep it coming.

the exhaust on these trucks isnt really all that bad. re-doing the exhaust and running duals isnt going to be worth it really. I'd just get a magnaflow or dynamax muffler, and dump it after the axle.

Oh ya, I am not planning on running true duals at all, just dual at the back for the look.

I've got a flowmaster on my Silverado. Its got a nice tone around town, quiet idle, loud when i really put my foot into it, quiet sounding on the highway.

It had 2 pipes straight out the back under the bumper, but ive since changed that.,

My old setup:

I'll try to get some pics of my new setup later. (oh, and it's only a 4.8l. If you have anything bigger the tendency is that it'll be a little louder w/ flowmaster.)

That looks nice, but instead of two single outlet tips, I would kind of like two dual outlet tips, but now seeing yours, I am wondering if it would look odd from the side view.

I promised pics, sorry they're HUGE so i'll link them. I had to change the tips after putting on the roll pan.

I havent seen anyone around here with duals split like that, which is why i made that decision.

Thanks for the pics Spitcan, looks good. I never thought of taking them out like that. Any ones I have seen that go out the side, do so in around the stock area, just on both sides.

Agreed I had Magnaflow dual exhaust on my Mustang it's is pretty mellow until you romp on it. I'd say if you can find a Magnaflow setup for your truck to get with that and perhaps do a side exhaust set up, I always like that on trucks.

I have a flowmaster on my Dakota (4.7L V8) and I love the way it sounds.....it's nice down low, but becomes quiet on the the highway, the sound doesn't drone at all either.

i got a Magnaflow on my silverado, sounds amazing, i get lots of compliments on it. Sounds great at idle, regular driving, WOT, and highway cruising. I got two 3 1/2" slash cut rolled tips comin straight out the back.

I personally like both pipes exiting out of the same side behind the wheel. Or, in front of the wheel, like a Ford Lightning.
