well i found this in my school's parking lot..
headlights look similar to a cobalts... well actually, theyre awfully close.
it also has a chevy emblem...
heres another one
hmm but wait a sec.. it has mexican plates...?
hmm 4 doors??!
well lets take a look at its rear end...
heheh, i lie!
its an astra.
regardless, this is a glimpse of what our 4 door astra will look like... this car is not a new car btw. leave it to GM to take older models from other countries, rebadge them, and say its a brand new car lol
all i can see is your finger
why re-tool , when you got something people want and will sell
it's not like gm is taking a Jag and putting a Caddilac badge on it. GM owns the car... umm Ion/Cobalt sunfire/cavalier... same deal. its a nice car that is selling good in other places, so they will bring it over. I don't see why there is any call for ripping on GM for that.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

im just saying that its an old car. i think its been out in mexico since like 03 or 04, im not sure. but its definitely not a new model. it should be time for an updated, or a small facelift.
its like if GM started selling 03-05 style cavalier in some other country as 08 cavaliers, without updating the same old J chassis. i guess it just seems pretty "lazy" to me.
It is lazy.. But it's GM, what do you really expect? I bet it still uses the old twist beam rear axle as well.

Actually I think it does. Didn't they decide to re-use the old Astra's rear suspension cause it was better?

Yep, same one as found in the first gen Js and Corsicas, Berettas, Skylarks....

Heh, if you think that the face is old... the current Astra err...Delta platform has been out for the rest of the world since George H.Bush was in office (1991). It just got updated in 1998 and 2004. At least the Astra is nicely made and attractively designed.

-----The orginal Mr.Goodwrench on the JBO since 11/99-----
what that thing has a twisty beam suspension.
and i thought gm wanted a contender.
What is GM's problem with IRS?? Test drove many vehicles with IRS, then go back to my delta based platform, and I quickly realize how out of date the suspension is.. Get with the times already GM..

Well, it better than the Ion.....

It's not just GM. Toyota switched the Corolla from IRS to the twist beam. Hyundai did the same with the Accent. If it is tuned correctly, it works just fine for normal driving, and I am assuming they use it cause it is cheap, and takes up less space.
Still I'd rather they didn't use it. My old base Neon handled Sooooo much better than my Cavalier. I thought the Z24 being the sporty model would handle better that this.
No to compensate, GM sells car with twist beam suspension and slap on a set of soft tires that are shot in 30,000 km's or less.. It's ridiculous if you ask me.
