That's interesting. It's defintely made smaller. Could Nissan be throwing a gauntlet in the Miatas ring? Whatever it is it IS NOT a new 350. The G37 is longer and wider so the next 350 would probably follow suit.

yea...this is a new chassis with a chopped up Z body on it to hide it.....

It's like the S2000/NSX rebody that was posted a little earlier... Not a bad idea, IMHO.

I could tell it wasn't what it outwardly seemed... the roof looks WAY too messed up to be a prototype... it's the chassis with 350zish body work.

Given that engineers appear to be using a Porsche Cayman as a comparison benchmark, it’s either the case that this remains a new, smaller 350Z (the two models are Nissan’s closest natural competitors), or that the company is setting a seriously high bar for its budget performance car. We can only hope that their choice of a Boxster companion will mean that the new car will be rear-drive as well.

i read it. Nobody knows what it is. Im calling it for what it looks like. Besides, they just made the altima shorter. so you never know what nissan is doing. I detect a pattern.

This one has a shorter wheel base.... I doubt it's going to be a 350Z replacement.

I've been hearing that they wanted to drastically reduce the weight of the 350Z but still have a model resemblance to it. I would personally hope that this would set the standard for the new silvia/240sx as well. I also remember hearing a name for this new prototype but it kinda escapes me right now.... something like 370ZG .....can't remember

I beg to differ, but I digress.

I only see them from my rearview mirror anyway <shrug>

Taste is subjective and individualised.

That being said, the car in the original post is more than likely NOT what the final auto will look like. It's more than likely camouflaged to keep the new chassis from being too easily found out.

Um, no, no not really according to your own profile your cars best current quarter mile run is 14.004@96.76 with no boost or juice. A bone stock 350Z can pull mid 13's all day, or the exact same numbers as your car, minor after market only improves that. So no, i do not think you ever "only" see them in your rear view. It's more like you get a great look at them as they run right next to you. And although i will not deni you the amazing props of pulling uber low 14's in a j-body (that was amazing so it can't be dismissed). It's your car is pretty much maxed (all-motor wise) where a 350Z still has alot more to go before they need to go boost/juice. So your car is not "faster" per-se than a 350Z...if anything it's just as fast and that is no doubt a complement to any j-body..Since the 350 is a formidable car in it's own right.

The styling of a car, weather it's ugly or beautiful is only an opinion and everyone is allowed to have one. But the performance numbers are fact, It's cool to be cocky when you really honestly have a fast car (as you in fact do) but don't get too carried away.
