Tuesday, May 29, 2007 11:39 AM
so i was down in FL for Memoral day weekend and rented a new mustang for the time i was down there...

i really liked everything about it, except for the lack of the V8....but i gotta tell ya...for a V6, it wasnt to shabby. so im kickin around the idea of gettin one. has anyone heard anything negative about them? or anyone know of any good forums out there?

thanks guys!

Negative, a few things.
Crappy interior for 1 at least for the GT model. It would be fine for the v6.
The v6 itself is a truck engine.

i did notice the plastic interior and it didnt bother me that much.

i really like the "retro" styling thye car has

and i wouldnt even consider the 6, it would be 8 or nothing

Well if you just want the retro styling by all means get one but if you want a go fast car w/ a nice interior I would say GTO or even wait for the G8 or camaro.

In the great rational PRO and CON debate of car purchasing, I do not see any PROs for buying a new mustang ... V8 or otherwise.

well the thing about the new Camaro is its commin out as an 09 correct? so factor in all the orders that have been probably made already by dealership owners and wealthy collectors. then factor in the mark up over MSRP that they are gonna have for a few years, and then giving it a few years to get all the recalls out of their systems....its gonna be a long time before i own one...but i will definatly own one.

and the interior isnt a deal breaker for me, the car is comfortabe to drive...hell i put 1000 miles on the rental in days and never was i uncomfortable.

and to say that the 4.6 is slow would be kind of a stretch....and hell...anything with a V8 is gonna be faster then my Sunfire. i mean yea...its not gonna be as fast as an LS1...but its not gonna be slow.

i was more wondering if people have heard bad things about them...like "ive gone through two rear ends in a year" or something strainge like that.

Your taste, your dollos ...

Id much rather purchase an mid-level A-B car with luxuries and decent fuel economy ... like a new Camry ... rather than a Mustang.

The G8 and camaro wont have many issues from the get go since they are basically already building them in Aussiland.
For the money, Id say GTO (but you already knew that).
As far as getting a camaro for MSRP I say no problem if you have a good dealership.

I will give it moderately quick instead of slow but most anything will be faster than your sunfire.

I don't think anyone will have the I have gone through two rearends in a year stories because the car is not that old yet.
I will tell you there are some stories like this "Man, my s/c stang just got whooped up on by a bolt on GTO."

Again, if you like the styling and want to buy it w/o test driving anything else then go for it.

Your slightly biased tho...........

I wouldn't get and S197 style stang, too heavy. If you want a "retro stang" go 04 Mach 1 or buy an actual classic stang.

Well, if you want to see your car on every corner I guess there is.
That and aftermarket support.

good point about the Camaro...i forgot about that

and as far as the GTO's go....i was just never really a fan of the look of them....just seemed like a famly car with a crazy motor in it....kinda like a SHO (only cooler obviously)

and yea....i guess its not the fastest thing on the road.

i didnt necessarly mean that specific problem....just that its a brand new car and was wondering if anyone herd anything wacky going wrong with them

and i didnt say i wouldnt test drive anything else....i was just looking for opinions....probably the wrong place to do that being that this is a prodominatly GM biased forum.

anyway...thanks for the input, much appreciated

normally I atend to agree with you 100%

in fact I told my mom the same thing this past weekend when she was car shopping...

She ended up with a fully loaded V6 stang.. for about 3000 less than a camry with simaler options..

that and she couldt drive the camry for very long, the headrests hit her neck wrong ( she had neck surgery about a year ago ) and she couldnt get comfortable..

I honestly Dispised everything about that car, up untill monday when the car my mom brought home...

now a base v6? forget it... even a base gt, looks like crap inside and out
