GTP starts, the sputters to a stall.
Friday, May 18, 2007 6:49 AM
Happened last night, and it does exactly like the subject says. I will fire up just fine, but two seconds after running, it will start to sputter down, then stall out.

I am thinking fuel pump, but what else could it be?

Odd, I had it towed to my mechanic last night. He just called me and told me that he started it right up this morning, and moved it around his parking lot no problem, while last night, I could keep it running for more then 10 seconds.

He is still going to investigate further though.

Any ideas here?

^^^ I agree. We had a cavalier that would do that. The anti-theft would shut of the injectors.

I can't see it being that, it stalled after I had been driving it for 45 minutes, just as I pulled into my driveway.

Maybe though.

I wouldn't say anti theft if it was running fine for 45 mins.. Anti theft usually kills it a second after it's started.. Checked the plugs? Check the fuel pressure? Dirty air filter maybe?

It was the fuel pump.

They cost like $800-1100 just for the pump around here. So I am contemplating if I should fix it, or just go buy the GF something smaller that will get better gas mileage.

Gotta think about.

Anyone want to buy a GTP that needs a fuel pump? LOL

Are you certain? I know my Alero did the same thing, but it was just the fuel filter.
