Thats great.
lol, that was about my same reaction when I realized I finally have a reason to put something stronger in the back.
Here is the setup I decided to run with:
-Dana 44 Axle
-Alloy 4340 Chromoly 33 spline Axle Shafts
-Alloy 4.56 gears
-OX Selectable Locker
I opted to use my stock drum brakes that are on the D35 since they will swap over but I might be looking into doing a rear disc conversion.
Once I install the rear in, the jeep will go to a local 4WD shop to have 4.56 installed in the front axle. I don't trust setting up gears myself.
Have a good one,
Justin
thought those were supposed to be pretty hearty
from the looks of it it wasnt a LSD ,
4:56 = time for a lift and taller tires

The Dana 35 axles are sometimes not the best axle to run when going over a 33" tire size. Some people never have a problem, while others are breaking axle shafts running 31's.
The Jeep is already lifted, here is a picture of what it looks like.

needs a little more lift and some bigger tires , lol
Do the rear disc conversion, and hell, while you're in there already, how about some air lockers?

I originally had and ARB ordered but I decided to change to an OX locker instead. With me still commuting 80 miles a day in the Jeep and reading about ARB having seal problems and needing maintenance form time to time, I decided on the OX.

that is one bad a$$ jeep...dont change a damn thing
good luck with the install
is it just me or do the front tire's look almost bald in the centre tread?

Sucks man. My TJ caught fire today when the caliper locked up on the freeway.... almost rolled it too!!! what a day

Yeah, what's up with the front end? I'm seeing uneven tire wear..

That sucks, glad to know nothing too serious happened and you are ok.

It isn't just you, the tires are bald. I got a great deal from my friend at the time for his Rubicon wheels and they had the swampers mounted on them. They have been used for daily driving to work 80 miles a day so they wore down really quick. I'm looking into some milder mud terrains on the Dick Cepek Fun Country II's.

LOL, tell me about it man. It is even worse knowing that the axle shafts are held in by c-clips. I was just waiting to see my wheel along with my axle shaft fly off the side of the road when I limped the jeep home.
As far as a little update, the axle should be here within the next week or so but my upper / lower control arms and rear adjustable trackbar should be in anytime so i'll post some install pics of those.
Have a good one,
Justin
Always loved your Jeep.. Makes me want to get one!! I'm still looking around, but for some reason used ones are pretty rare in my area.. Guess no one wants to give theirs up..

I might be matching your jeep here shortly... Went to a dealership today and they had an 02 with 13k miles. Talked with the sales rep and may be able to get it for $12,000
Is it bad that when I saw the first picture I smelled gear oil? God that stuff stinks.

UPDATE: 08/27/2007
After some hardships with my order through 4WD, the order was cancelled. I placed a new order with Northridge 4x4 and couldn't have been any more happier. Dave and the guys over there are top notch. After placing my order, they got me the axle within two weeks.
On to the install pictures:
Nth Degree Mobility Upper Adjustable Control Arms
Full Traction Fixed Lower Control Arms
Rubicon Express Adjustable Rear Track Bar
The Dana44 when it got to the house
Alloy USA Axle Shafts
Install Pictures I don't have any of the actual installations of the axle, mainly because I was under the jeep muscling it around to line up the control arms.
Welp, that is it. The jeep is now sitting back on all four tires after months of it being out of comission. All that is left is to bleed the brakes and take her out for a spin.
Next is going to be re-gearing the front end and installing my Dana30 Alloy USA shafts for the front axle.
Have a good one,
Justin
all that new axle and old brakes , shame on you

Lovin it! Nice new upgrades!
Those Rubicons wheels and the tires are hot!! I love them on there..also the flares looks better painted.

After thinking back, I probably should of did a rear disc upgrade. At the time, the money wasn't there. It is on my list of things to do eventually.

Thanks man. I am happy how the flares turned out. It makes the Jeep look a little bit bigger. Now I am on the hunt for some 35's, I might be looking into these sometime soon.
