If they offered it for around the same price as a Mustang (or lower) they might have something. I'm not sure how I feel about a 40 grand Hyundai.
Oh well... maybe the Kia version will be cheaper.
I would think that the Mustang would be more their comptetion.

The Hyundai's here in Korea are NICE. I told my buddy on many occasions that if they had Kia, Hyundai's in the states like they do here i'd definately own one. All the cars here on base that the officers drive around are either Kia or Hundai's. I've always said the Tiburon would be sweet if it was RWD. I agree on the price though, yikes!
one thing.... that first pic sure as hell looks like a turbo 4 cylinder to me...
and i'm totally down for one of these bad boys... so sweet
of course, i'd rather a turbo Beta motor than the V8.

im sure if they are gonna do a V8 in the new tibby its prob gonna be a small 1 , like in the 3 litre range , and not a monster V8 like the 6.0 or 6.2 in the G8's

now that's awesome. IMO i don't care if it's V8, the current V6, or a 4-banger n/a or boosted...as long as it's RWD. It just makes a sport coupe so much more balanced. If it looks like the above car and has HP numbes close to the 350Z/G37, and has RWD. that's my next car.

If they release this, they should have 3 versions. 4 cylinder, V6 and V8. The 4 banger should be priced the same as a top of the line Accent. V6 should be priced the same as an SS Cobalt and V8 should be priced slightly above the SS/SC Cobalt. If they price this above the Mustang GT and near the G35 they're sure to fail. It's a Hyundai.
well all in all thier plans sound cool, but its now 1 more car that will move out of the range of affordability for me, and many others. even if they keep it with the mustang not the g35...i cant afford a $26,000 car...if i could id likely be driving a gt stang, not a cav. first it was the Z cars, then the RX's, then the eclipse, now the tib. hell back in 1969 anyone with a decent job straight outa high school could grab a camaro z28, at the end of thier production they were $30,000 cars.
now, i will say that small cars are lightyears ahead of where they were 15-20 years ago...but fun and inspiring they arent...and as hyundai is showing, when one is, they move it "up-market".
oh well..heres to hoping that it actually looks like the pics, and carries the performance the looks suggest.

Hmm.. If it looks like the black one, has a small displacement 8 cyl (a 3.5ish would be supreme), or just a good strong V6, is RWD, and about the size of a G35, I'd rock one in a heartbeat. I've been mostly happy with the Elantra I own. Hyundai does build a darn good car. I've had problems with some of their dealers, but the car iteself has been a good investment. If the new Tib fit the above criteria, I'd keep the Elantra as a winter car, and scoop up the Tib for a summer ride.

if it was hyundai COMPLETELY redid their company ground up since then. hence why no hyundais were made for model year 02.
since then they have been skyrocketing.

The V8 will be a 4.6L, there may be a possibilty of a 3.8L V6 too with more than 270HP and yes, the engine that I posted is a I-4 but in RWD configuration, it is Hyundai's new gen of I-4, one of which is found on the current Sonata.

Give them another shot. They've come a long way. Their quality is almost on par with Honda. Like I said, the only down fall I've had were the few dealerships I've dealt with, but that's just those individual people.

Hell, that doesn't sound too bad at all. A smaller displacement V8 would have been nice to get better fuel economy, but you can't win them all. And if the V6 is putting out that kind of power, I'd imagine the V8 would probably be somewhere close to 400HP.
