Quick Question
Monday, April 16, 2007 7:55 PM
I've got the beginnings of a rust problem on my Alero... and it's starting to piss me off enough to do something about it finally

I'm leaning to either go Satin Whie or Satin Black on the hood. This would be the first panel, as I plan to repaint the entire vehicle. I'd go with Satin Black, but it's not like I'm going to mod the snot out of the car... I like Satin White because it's different. Either way, it will have a clear coat (in satin as well) because I don't want the water messing up the paint....

Anyhow, is there any pictures of flat/satin white cars that anyone knows of?

TIA and cheers lads and lasses!

Listen man, I hate to be the one to break it to you like this, but ...

Its an N-Body.

Sell it.

Listen man, I hate to say it but,

it's an N-body that's got to get me through the next year.

I own it outright... I'm buying a G35 after this... I just don't want to drive a car that looks like a rusted out hooptie for the next 12 months.

Put an LS1 in it.

I dunno how that will help the rust.....but I bet you'll forget about the rust =P

if the rusted area is small, maybe you should look for a local body shop that
deals with spot treatments on the cheap, and put the savings towards your
G35. Twelve months will go by fast, and there seems little point repainting
something you intend to sell. For the most part, newer cars have a better
resale value with their original paint intact. Of course, I'm assuming you're
selling the car. If you're passing it along to the misses -- paint it flamingo
pink -- women gravitate to men confident enough to drive a pink auto for one
year's time.

Okay..

1: I WAS NOT asking for opinions. I respect your opinions insofar as mine are, which isn't a lot.
2: I'm not selling the Alero. I wanted something to either play with or be the winter beater. Once I've got another car, it'll get snowtires, my old stereo (because I burnt out the antenna on this one, and the CD player is acting up), a clean up and the fluids changed. That's it.
3: I was looking for pictures of satin white painted cars. I'm not going to a body shop because a friend of mine is already a body man, and he's going to do the work for free, I just buy the materials, I didn't want to go satin black, because that's already trendy... He doesn't have any pics of a satin white painted car, so that's why I was asking.

Jesus, I only asked for a pic of what it might look like...

ok where's GAM and what did you do to him?
the GAM I know makes educated comments, dots his i's and crosses his t's
this GAM can't decide between black and white.

Google, or Cardomain a basic black, and white Alero
Select your favourite colour,
than go to Canadian Tire, buy a touch-up pen or small can of the satin version and test it out.
You won't get an accurate idea of a satin finish -- compared to a standard finish -- over the net.
