My friend just picked up a 2006 350Z enthusiast edition with the 6 speed and full nismo exaust. It's a pretty darn nice car, but he's irking me a little with how "overly cool" he thinks it is.
He says it's as fast or faster than a Corvette. I told him not a chance. He argued. He says it will smoke a GTO 5.7 or 6.0 any day all day. I shook my head and said dude, your car is fast but not faster than a GTO or a VETTE!. He said he'll eat a WRX, Mustang Cobra....with 2 less cylinders none-the-less.
He starts throwing out all kinds of numbers and specs. He even is convinced it will smoke N/A Porsches and hang with Ferraris. Then continued to tell me Ferraris are not really fast. they're only good for top speed but as far as acceleration goes his 350Z would either beat one or it would be close. He said the only fast Ferrari ever made was the Enzo's and F40/50's
But i swear to God a Scion Tc ran him on the freeway today and he had a hell of a time trying to catch up he was doing 125 and was only very slowly creeping up on him. now his excuse is he wasn't really trying.
A kid at the Nissan dealer pissed him off today becuase he told my friend he smokes 350Z's all the time in his 2007 Toyota Tacoma V-6 TRD X-Runner. My friend pissed and moaned all the way home about how full of crap his is, there's no way his truck could touch his Z. He said it would take at least a $100,000+ exotic to even match his speed and performance.
And for the love of God I wish i was making this all up or could say he's only kidding. But he's not, he's 100% serious. I think he smokes crack when i'm not looking.
My question is, about how frighteningly retarded do you think he is? LOL
Is there potential to smoke a non-Z06 Vette yes or no?...becuase i don't think there's a chance in hell of that happening unless he went with an SC or turbo.
Is the 350Z the best all around sports car for sale right now?... I'll admit the Cobra and WRX numbers are pretty close to the Z's
And lastly, how the heck would a Scion Tc give him a run for the money?...Is that S/C kit from TRD really that awesome?

350z = 14.0-14.5 1/4 time range.... if your friend is that stupid, then his driving abilities put him in high end of that likely.
03 Vette = 12.9-13.3 range
05 vette = 12.6-13.0 range
03 z06 = 12.5-12.9
s/c cobra = 12.9-13.5
wrx = 14.0-14.6
STI 13.0-14.0
So in other words, the only he would have a chance against is a base WRX... hes a moron.

oh hes a moron but ace, your times are off...theres been plenty of mid to high 13sec passes with the Z
he bought the 350 for the wrong reason if he wants to beat people in straight line performance. It has decent power, but its built to be a fun track car, not a super car or drag car.

As far as the x-runner comment the guy at the dealership made...he's right....the 350z was the target vehicle for the X-runner....they are pretty damn quick little trucks

You forgot GTOs and 4th Gen fbods are faster. hell GNs will give a 350 a good run and LT1 camaros too. S2000s should be a good race.
I have never heard of a z running mid 13s BONE STOCK. I have heard of high 13s in the stripper version.
Tell him to take it to the track. Hell. I would put $100 bucks on my whooping him if he came out here on a friday night.

Keep in mind, I made that list up off the top of my head... high 13's... yea ok some can get that... mid? Thats pushing it unless the new ones (06+) got faster.
And yea, any LSx powered car is faster... Evos are faster, Supra, 300ZXtt, VR4, new stang GTs, stage 1+ SRT4s, solstice GXPs
Is this guy going to need anymore ego crushing? Because I could explain how 2 grand could make a civic faster then him. Or how 200 bucks would make a GRAND PRIX faster. Or a GTI. Or a DSM. Ok I'll stop now.

07+ Got faster, however, there are a number of people pulling 13.5-13.7's with a bone stock 350 Pre 07..
Best I have heard of was a 13.8ish bone stock.

This is the 350s top 25 list.
The top two stock times for one are from a guy in GA around here somewhere. He is also on ls2gto.com. After he modded his he is still in 13s tho w/ tires.
So they are a little bit faster stock w/ a awesome driver but still even the newer slightly faster ones only run a 13.4 tops.
