98 firefly problem

First off... yeah yeah 98 firefly. My sister's car though and it's having some troubles with the lights. Figured I'd check here to see if anyone has any suggestions.

The problem, let me see if I remember the explanation... From what I remember, she was saying that when you turn the car on, the driving lights seem to come on before releasing the ebrake. But when you take the ebrake off, the driving lights go off and won't turn on when you use the switch.

I think that's all that she had said, but I'm not 100% certain. When she brought it in to the mechanic though the lights seemed to work, so they couldn't figure anything out, but now it's not working again. Since she's always busy with work/school she can't bring it in every time they quit.

Any ideas at all? All I can think would maybe be some sort of connection / short somewhere along the line from the switch to the light?

So is it just me, or is there someone else who has no clue what a firefly is?

It's not the same name used in the US

Huh, that's interesting. I never even thought that it might not exist in the states as well as up here in Canada. Learn something new every day.
