01 neon shaking really bad!
Sunday, March 18, 2007 7:40 PM
HI guys, like the title says, it shakes really bad at idle when started. My cousin states that it kinda goes away as it warms up. Another cousin had same year neon and it the same thing. There's no cel. spark plugs and cables were replaced about 3-5 months ago. rad was replaced as well. what could be the problem. I was thinking maybe timing but that would make the cel come on, wouldn't it? Im trying to talk him into trading it in. my other cousin traded his 4 an 07 mazda3. any input greatly appreciated! thanx!

^^^^^^^ i thought all neons shake on start up and idle. at least every one ive seen has. the SOHC are the worst for it.

or it could be that all the ones ive seen are crashed.

Timing wouldnt set a CEL . It would just run like poop, and no matter how long it was idling or warming up , the timing wouldnt change.

( Being that it would be a timing belt, not timing with the computer grounding the injectors )

I see. well just gonna have to tell him to have the timing checked. not sure if it can be done! on DIS cars the timing is controlled by the computer but like you guys say, it could be that it jumped over a tooth or something like that! He should have gotten a j-body! no shaking real smooth!!
