Hi everyone, im lookin at getting a 1992 240sx hatchback with HICAS 5 speed, has a blown rad and head gasket ... 314,800 KM's on it think this sounds like a good project car?

Anyone know any 240 sites?

HICAS is a PITA to work around, and it also stops you from making a competant drifter because you can't get rid of it without really sinking a lot of money into the car.

The Rad can be bought a bunch of places (summit racing/fluidyne etc... ) but the head gasket is something I can't really tell you about. The KA24DE is a good little engine, so you're not going to want in that respect. The HICAS is going to cause you more problems than it's worth (HICAS, if you don't know is Nissan's 4 wheel steering technology) if you plan to modify primarily because the suspension is designed around that system, and no one that I'm aware of is making modified components that work with it.

If it were MY money, I'd pass on this 240 because of the HICAS. IF you can find one without HICAS, and a dead engine... well... you can pop in the CA18DET, SR20DET or an RB series motor... or even get a KA24DE and build it up for a turbo application.

IF I were you, I'd also look VERY VERY Seriously into importing a S13/180SX from Australia or Japan, and get the good stuff direct while the 15 year import exclusion is still in effect.

PM me or go to http://www.gtrcanada.com and look at the importing forum.

If you're looking for 240 specific sites: http://www.240sx.org <-- make this your first stop.

i totally agree on the HICAS comments. ive read alot about these (the 300zx had it too i believe) and its nothin but trouble. as far as the motor, SR20DET is prob the best mix of ease, affordability, and power. however, everyone and thier dog has a SR swap, so for me...id do a stroked small block chevy, big honkin blower and dual carbs stickin outa the hood, just to cheese off the JDM boys. they tend to take themselves enitrely too seriously anyways...LOL
