Havn't been here for awhile but oh well, I got a raise and i need a new car. Looking at around $12,000 or so, more if i can sell the J too. Heres what im kinda looking for, but feel free to throw some other ideas out there:
1. No older than 97
2. fair MPG
3. 4,6 or 8 cyl, doesn't matter but the MPG plays a big part in this so keep that in mind.
4. speedy
(or potential to be speedy without a complete engine overhaul)
(im not looking for like 10sec fast, just a very fun car to drive lol.)
5. Domestic or Import, doesn't matter (Not a civic or integra, sorry but i just dont like em, personal preference
(like 200 of them in my area lol))
and ya, around $12000ish, maybe $14k or so depends if i can sell my current car.
Im not opposed to trucks, just that the MPG thing is different with them.
wow... really.... noones got any suggestions??
colorado, fair mpg and 4 wheel drive.......seriously though i had to be the first to tell the guy to drive what i drive
women are like cars you have to test drive the new one before you trade in the old one
F-body with a 6 speed. Good gas mileage, LS1 so you know it will be fast, and handles GREAT. Would be hella fun to drive, get one with t-tops to, trust me.
1983 Camaro Z28
v8 with good gas milage?? What do you classify as "good" lol
Searching around it seems that the 99-00 camaro's get fairy good mpg, i dont konw enough about cars to figure this out myself, but is there anything that can be done to improve the MPG without hurting its speedieness (my word, copywritten)
HERE YOU GO
We had one from spring-fall like two years ago and man it was a really fun car. It is really quick and handles well. Gets good gas mileage and is a TON of fun to drive. Has a pretty good aftermarket too. You get so many looks in it because not many people know what they are and have never seen one. Looks like a porsche look alike.
4-Door:
Grand Prix GTP
2-Door:
2000+ LS1 6spd F-Body
Also take a look at the Camry, Accord, Impala ...
so do yall think its possible to get a F-body for under ± $12,000CAD ($10,000usd roughly)
I've seen plenty of ls1's sell for around 10k. A little on the higher mileage but nothing too bad. But I must warn you, your going to get like 14-16 mpgs city.

... really? why did someone say they got good mpg? thats hardly good lol.
Can anyone think of a good 4cyl thats fun to drive for that price range?
Im not good with cars, but dont turbo's require you to use premium gas? which is like $3 more lol.
i'd sell you my tiburon... which i do love, but insurance for me is pretty high. i love my tibby GT
7 months without a date and counting

heck my vette was 18k and gets 25mpg around town and 30 on the high way plenty of speed too
how many miles did it have ken? I can only find vettes of that generation around here with 150k+ miles for that price.
Yeah, the turbo Supra would require premium gas, but it'd be WORTH IT!!
Other suggestions:
V6 Mazda 6
Hyundai Tiburon
Nissan 300z

Lol ya i know it'd be worth it and id LOVE to do it but my $$ atm is telling me not to go that route just yet.
Im glad you brought up the Nissans, i was looking at them. What are your opinons on the 240sx? If i did get one ill be sure not to go the ricer route lol, some show all go (eventually lol)
I've owned 2 ls1 cars. One was a 00 formula and then a 00 camaro ss.
I always got crapy gas mileage.
BTW I thought you had to put 91 in the ls1. Thats what I always did.

ya i just found that out, so the camaro is off the list, i wish more people had ideas cuz i know im outta them :S
So ya, no more cars that require premium plz
the 240 is a good car with lots of potential. I think I'd rather go with a 300z, though. You get the V6, and a body style that isn't as frequently seen.

anything even deacently quick requires premium gas pretty much haha.

Do they require premium though? God i wish ga didn't cost so much! Missing out on some nice cars cuz of it...

If you went with a naturally aspirated one
kinda like this, only maybe in better condition with less miles (if you can find it), I don't think you'd have to go premium gas. Anything turbo you WOULD need to run premium. That's why I'd look for something with a V6. Better power than a 4 cyl, but with better gas milage than a V8.

I am not sure what you are looking for a grand prix GT would be good. I have an 04 GTP which has a supercharger so that requires premium gas and lower gas mileage than the GT. I love my HUD (Head Up Display)
If you get a 2001-2005 GT you will be fine. With a trade in you can get those car anywhere from $6K to $14K
2004 Grand Prix GTP (Competition Group)
