Does the blower motor still work when you are stopped, or does the blower stop spinning?

If it goes cold and still blows, it could be blockage in the header(or return) line, or heater core. It could also be something with your water pump. Maybe it is seizing up and not pumping at idle, but moves at higher rpms?

Let your car idle, and
check if it's pumping coolant. If it is, it's probably blockage in the line.

Also, double check your coolant, and make sure it's full in the rad and resivour tank when cold. (don't open the rad when it's warm/hot.)

the blower motor runs when i'm at idle, i just lose all heat! How would i check to see if the water pump is working at idle? I just bought the car and the guy said he had a new thermostat put in it. when i picked it up on the way home the coolant light came on... i filled it back up.... i dont know if its leaking or if they filled it once and didnt refill it after the thermostat opened for the first time. Not really sure... i guess i need to check under the car in the AM when i leave

Could be a leak, and it's low on coolant.

I've seen afew waterpumps sieze at low rpms, but work properly at higher rpms. Could be that. Does the car overheat if you let it idle?

You said you had to put coolant back in it. Did you check the coolant level again? You might of had an air pocket and coolant level dropped. Thats what it sounds like to me.
