That 5-way intersection he's standing at is in Beverly Hills and it's a nightmare. I hate driving through there.

If we're gonna talk apples, then lets stick with apples.
1. He's attemptingto compare a drop-top Jag to your average everyday Chevy Malibu or Ford Tarus performance wise.
2. He talked about it a little, it's a completely different driving culture over here. We (when I say we I mean the public as a whole, not necessarly the Jbody community) feel like we're entitled to the road way, which is why we "plod" along at one speed in any lane {which annoys the living piss out of me on any 4 lane road}.
3. Since when have car's here been disposable? I think the reason we trash more cars is becuase we get tired of having to fix them.
Those are my opinions...granted, Ive been wrong before *cough*wheels*cough*
But thats my shot at defending the US and our unfortunatly @!#$ty drivers.
I take what this guy says with a huge grain of salt. Half the time he doesn't know what he's even talking about it seems...such as the time he stated that the engine in the Shelby GT500 is the same 4.6L engine that's in the standard GT. Or the way he described the "poor" build of the new Corvette. I'm really beginning to think this guy has nothing to say positively about American cars as it just seems like he would rather bash American cars more than anything else on his show.
Maybe I'm wrong on my assumptions, but all the Top Gear episode that has been posted on this site, and the Mustang forum I frequent just shows this guy constantly bashing American cars.
Really it's hard to take seriously anything that comes from his mouth.
So...it's a bad thing my car doesn't hold water? And the car not lasting more than 3 years, it's called planned obsolescence. Oh well, some people just want to swing from the nuts of everything, be it Apple, foreign cars, or George Bush.

i'd rather have a car that didn't hold water
People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
we need better cars they need better dentists. i mean we could go all day with this.

American cars are crap compared to European or Japanese cars, though. Anyone who feels otherwise hasn't owned a foreign car within the last 10 years. I've notied the ONLY people that buy american cars are people who are just too stubborn to
try a foreign car. That's it. Or they're worried that they'll look like a traitor to their country.
And, by the way, most car reviewers don't have much to say that's positive about American cars.
Jeremy Clarkson is an ok guy until he starts talking @!#$ on America. He has absolutely no idea what he is talking about, but he thinks that he knows everything, when in-fact he knows everything about nothing.

it's funny, of the 6 or 7 people he "interviewed" in Vegas, how many other people did he ask those questions to that knew the answers? probably quite a few, but they aren't going to use those people in their segment.
He GUSHED over the Ford GT when it was released, bought one day of, and has had NOTHING but trouble with it. He bought the Mercedes SL55 and has had NO problems whatsoever. Still, he continues to defend the GT.
VW, Citroen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes - these cars are all MUCH cheaper in Europe than they are here. Sure, he bashes American cars - so do I, and I live here. I've ridden in the Z06 and it IS a horrible ride. I've ridden in a Golf R32 and not only was the ride better, the car was QUICKER - not faster, QUICKER. Two completely different price ranges, 2 completely different cars, sure. But Europe is a completely different continent than ours...
...so everyone needs to stfu and stop being fanboys - just appreciate a car for what it is and be honest about it - a Cavy does not equal a Golf (can YOU get a paddle gearbox in your Cobalt? Didn't think so...) and the prices reflect that.

He liked the VXR Manoro (GTO)
Which is a Holden.
He actually bought a Ford GT.
Then he got rid of it.
How is the Golf a quicker car?
Maybe in the first 60' due to awd but then its all zo6 sorry.

America is bigger than most of the counties he listed. Does he know all our state capitals? I doubt it.

I dont like him...never had.
It just makes me laugh that he picks on our way of of driving. Like everyone at the 6 way junction...doing it the correct way. And being able to walk across the street and not get hit. Sorry we dont all drive like @!#$ morons...
you guys are way to quick to judge. go back and watch it again. he wasnt making fun of the u.s., he was actually defending america by telling his audience (europe) why our cars dont last. which is because we dont want them to, and we drive much differently here then in europe. which means the european style of driving is much harder on a car. as far as the jag goes he simply stated it worked well no matter where he drove it. and he asked those ques. for a little comic relief. lighten up, its a good show.

Considering most of us know who he us and have seen him many times, we weren't judging to quickly...
Im sorry but how the @!#$ did he defend america? And watch the rest of his show, he pretty much bash's our cars any chance he gets..

Well like I said earlier in all the videos that I've seen posted on this site and the other site I frequent, the only thing this guy is doing bashing American cars, and when he's not bashing American cars, he's making small mistakes on the information he's telling about the car. If he's an automotive journalist, shouldn't he be neutral and tell the good and bad about American cars whether he actually likes them or not? Likewise when European cars are being reviewed on this show I hardly ever hear him utter one bad word about them. Sure European cars are great but they aren't perfect...no car is really, not even the new Lexus that can pretty much parallel park itself. I understand that European (and even Japanese) cars are considered to be superior to their American counterparts and this isn't what I'm disputing, I'm disputing the fact this guy hardly ever has anything positive to say about American cars and when he does it seems as if it's forced out of him. This means (in my opinion) he lacks the neutrality to be an effective automotive journalist as most American cars are damned in his eyes before he even starts the engine.
I don't think the United States produces the greatest cars in the world but they do produce good ones and they should be given their props, especially on this guy's show where he's reviewing cars to give information to the masses at large (unless I'm completely braindead on the format of this show). I disagree with your comment that most car reviewers don't have anything positive to say about American cars. While they may not be gushing over American cars, most of them are far, FAR,
FAR more neutral when it comes to reviewing just one American car than Jeremy Clarkson has been reviewing 20 American cars.
For the record, I owned a foreign car for about three years before trading up to the Cavalier (which there after I traded up to the Mustang). I don't have a problem buying a foreign car if it meets or exceeds what I'm looking for in a vehicle, I just haven't seen that many foreign (the new Toyota Camry, Nissan Altima sedan and coupe are the only ones that quickly come to mind that I like) cars that meets what I'm looking, comes in an attractive package and is something that is reasonably affordable ($40,000 near luxury sedans and coupes are out of my price range at the moment). Whenever I'm looking to buy a car, the thought never enters my mind of what company built it or the location where it was built.
I'm just honestly wondering why this guy even has an American car on his show since 99.9999% it seems like the car is just there to get bashed. It also makes me wonder how this show would be received if it was aired on American television.
lets think about this: japan, england, most other european countries are TINY. america is fuggin HUGE! they HAVE to make quality cars over there because:
1) they dont get used as much as they would here. if you drive from the top left part of britain to the bottom right you still havent travelled as far as what karo or lenko do for each bash. hell, going to work might max most of them out at 10 kms. but i put AT LEAST 25K miles on my car each year. no exceptions. in 4 years' time i have clocked on more mileage than what most brits would put on a car in a good 10-20 years!
2) not everyone has or buys cars there...they have the option of public transportation. (kinda goes with #1) locally we have no public transportation....so i HAVE to have a car if i want to go ANYWHERE. england and all of europe have busses and trains that will take them over the whole continent. if they want to visit other places they can do so w/o taking their car. we can take a greyhound or an airplane. otherwise we have to use our cars.
3) they have the option of buying all kinds of cars....america doesnt. america gets the watered down versions of vehicles. england can get RHD or LHD cars....we cant. england can just go to france and get a french car, italy to get an italian car, etc. we cant. if we want to import something, we have to find a broker, pay out the ass, and hope we can get it legalized.

Then move lol.
I have owned a foreign car in the past ten years and it was the biggest POS I have ever driven in. Sure it was good on gas but it was just a crappy car.
I think that people who drive foreign cars now need to try american cars again. They have come a long way from where they were and they will only continue to get better.
