2007 SALEEN/PARNELLI JONES MUSTANG
Price: $59,015 (plus $1,300 gas-guzzler tax and $1,550 transportation)
Engine: 5.0-liter, 400-hp, 390-lb.ft. V8; rwd, five-speed automatic
Weight: 3550 pounds
The motor starts as a 4.6-liter modular three-valve sohc V8. Saleen strokes and bores it to 5.0 liters, adds 24 pounds/hour injectors, ported aluminum heads, performance camshafts and dual exhausts. The engine management is recalibrated to make the most of those improvements, and then the stock internal parts are replaced with forged-aluminum pistons, forged-steel con rods and a forged-steel crank so the whole thing doesn’t blow up. The transmission is a five-speed manual with a short-throw shifter routed to an 8.8-inch differential with a 3.73 final drive.
To get all the power to the ground and be able to drive around a corner with it. The heart of the setup is the Watts linkage in the rear, which replaces the Panhard rod found in the stock Mustang. While the Parnelli/Saleen rear is still built around a solid-beam axle (an IRS would have been too complicated and expensive), it is kept on the ground by two cleverly placed Watts links on each side, swiveling from outboard body mounts directly onto the back plate of the differential.

that's my envy talking by the way. It wouldn't be JBO with out at least one hater comment. So with that out of the way first thing. I love it.

nice car , but coulda been done better
Oh wow...no @!#$ way..
Its ugly and 60 grand...
Id rather have a S281 Supercharged or even better a S281 Extreme(there hot plus much more powerful)
hot... but not worth the price... id rather grab a gt500 for less...
Nice, but for that price I'd rather get a Mustang GT500...even if I had to pay $15,000 over sticker for a Mustang GT500 I would still be paying less and probably getting equal if not better performance from a stock Mustang GT500.
Another weekly variation of the Mustang.
I wonder if anyone actually keeps track of these?

It's because it has the "saleen" name on it, that is the reason for the price hike.

Red 2005 Saturn Ion-3 Coupe

Well, it has that SCCA Trans Am nostagia look to it. It is probably more of an investment (limited production) than actually trying to compete with the GT500 or anything else performance wise. I'm on the fence about the looks, I still think the GT500 looks more menacing. I sort of remember reading that the "Hurricane" 5.0L V8 will soon replace the 4.6L's in Mustang GT's, so that 5.0L engine in the Saleen will be all that special in a couple of years. What I can't figure out is how Ford can do such a great job with the Mustang, but for whatever reason, cannot get the marketing/interest/styling right on the Fusion, Five Hundred, and Focus.

I don't understand why anyone would buy this over a GT500??? or a S281 Supercharged ?????
Seriously, if this car was $30-35K it would be a winner.

the fusion's ford had at SEMA in 05 were dam right good lookin
the 500 and mucas just need to go , bring back the old fiesta
the new modified mustang mag has a article on the PJ stang , although i havent gotten to read it yet
im guessing alot of the price is custom motor work and the suspension work
I am guessing alot of the price is $$$ profits.

So ... what is the difference between this and the special edition corvettes? There is no added power on either or them. I'd just like an explination that is all.
