So I either selling the Pathfinder and buying an 03 Silverado, or selling the GTP and buying an 04 CTS. (I will not be without 4wd)
I was talking to some people at work that told me to be careful of Cadillac as they are very expensive to repair and maintain.
Is this truth or rumour? I would think that since it is a GM, it can't be any more pricey then an import to fix.
Thanks.

nothing horrible...consider this....its an 04....shouldn't be any major repair bills...but yes if you go out and hot rod it and blow it up...yes it'll be pricey to repair....as is any other car that isn't an econo @!#$ box
I am not worried about blowing it up or anything like that. Just the day to day stuff that will come up over some years of ownership.
ie. Brake job, exhaust work, minor engine work, alternators, etc.
Not a total overhaul, haha.

Nope...neither.
I honestly dont know if id take the silverado or the caddy..i love both...
Well, that's the problem, I don't know which one I like more. Also, I really like the GTP too which is throwing another wrench into the mix.
The Pathfinder means nothing, just reliable 4wd, and seating for 5. That's it is to me.

If that was the case, id go with the truck. I mean the GTP is alot faster than the caddy and if you like it why get rid of it...
I don't think the GTP would be faster then th Caddy. The Caddy has more HP and only weighs a little more. The GTP is also 10 years old, where as the Caddy would be only 3.
Also, speed is not everything. The caddy would be a nice ride, where the GTP's ride is getting pretty worn out.

Oh, I was under the impression that the GTP has some work done to it...Either way it has alot more potentional.
Your not kidding about the ride, the CTS rides like a @!#$ dream and it is definitly quick enough to have some fun in.
get an 06 and u'll have the 10 year warranty
I 04 didn't GM recall all the piston hats in the Cadi engines?

I plan on getting the 3.6 if I go with the CTS. I know full well I am too cheap to buy an 06, so ya. I would think 04 is as high as I will go.
Any more info on actual repair costs though? Is there a website I can go too to find out such things?
Thanks again...

look at it this way...brake jobs are once every few years...and you're still talkin maybe 50 bucks more....bfd. Repair costs are MINIMAL I wouldn't be afraid of it at all. I rode in andy's CTS with the 3.6 w/VVT. VERY fun car. I was quite impressed...makes me kinda want one haha. not to mention...RWD!!!!
I am also looking into an 03 or 04 cts there really nice cars and theres even a few 5spds around. is there a big difference in the 3.2 in the 03's compared to the 3.6 in the 04's????
Thanx Charles
I think so, I have driven both.
And there are actually A TON of 5 speeds out there..
I want to get a @!#$ 08 so bad....but i dont know if i cant wait any longer....mmmmmmmmmm 300hp 6 speed
well what do you mean haha if theres a differnce care to shed some light???
Thanx Charles
HOnestly there may be no difference, to me the 3.2 seems a lot more sluggish, not as quick out of the hole...
is there any after market for the 3.2 and 3.6 motors???
Thanx Charles
3.6 DOHC VVT...
nuff said.. trust me, the sound of it alone when it gets past 4 grand is worth it.
part of me wishes i had looked for a 5 spd harder...
but then i get into a trafic jam.. and i remember i still have the fire to bang gears if i want.
and the sport gearing button really does make an autopmatic much more enjoyable
