a little something to say about european design (and cars) .....

a lot of times you see posts where they show all these bad ass european cars over and over.

well, let me tell you something from experience. i'm currently over here in france, and let me tell you, they have some FUGLY ass cars over here. it is SUPER RARE to see one of the cars that you see pictured on these forums. in the five days i've been here, i've seen ONE. you think they make ugly ass cars in the US? @!#$, they make ugly ass cars here too. the ratio is the same here as it is in the US in terms of great cars to fugly ones.

And you're entitled to your opinion.
Here is the reason we have boring cars here in the states. Because this is the majority of the mentality in N-A and auto makers are afraid to break the cookie cutter mold for their bread & butter cars. Hence why Camry & Accord are top sellers here.
I guess people will not accept different.
And when I was in Europe, the cars that were boring and ugly were the European cars sold here in the states.
So it is all a matter of opinion.

How well are American cars made
Jeremy Clarkson tests to see which car hold water better the American car or the British car.

^ and as for that, i dont know where to begin.

A) they're using older cars that quite possibly have old (possibly rotten) hard rubber seals, etc.
B) a towncar and a jaguar are only "sort of" in the same class.
C) if a car was designed to hold water, they'd make it that way. basing a competition to hold water in a machine that wasn't designed to do it is stupid.

no doubt about it, i have (at times) very high criticism of american automakers. but euro design is not perfect.

European Designers usually take risks, you call it fugly, I call it trying something different.

North American cars have been 3 box cars for the last 30 years with not a lot of differentiation. Except for minor changes, it's the same old white-bread junk.

And now for something completely different... Click the Minister.

Ze' Asians > Americans > EuroTrash.

Of course, some vehicles break the over simplified all encompassing general statement above ... but it is rare.

I named the two top selling asian cars to prove a point that in N-A people like their plain vanilla designs and because of that auto makers are afraid to break the cookie cutter mold for their bread & butter cars.
And since this type of mentality is the majority, the rest of us who want different and ground breaking are screwed.

I love my Audi, way better than any of my previous NA cars. When I look to buy another car I will probably look towards buying another Euro car. I am so pissed of with the support our econonmy not theirs crap, My mom work 28 years for GM and retired and then had to go back to work 2 weeks later because GM rufused her pention, but finally after a court battle she was able to get it. Why support our economy when the big 3 don't support their own workers, maybe if they would stop closing plants and moving them to Mexico, (wait now thats China, cost to much to make a car in Mexico now I guess) They would have people who would buy their cars. My parents will never buy another GM car again, and I am sure a lot of the people that lost there jobs from these auto makers feel the same way.

Head to Stuttgart, Germany it's the home of Porsche, VW, and Diamler. I use to see them all day on the Autobahn. Also you could go to the Nuermburger Ring, in Baveria every supercar is tested there before production.
