Well my camaro is pretty much dead. I'll post some pictures tomorrow. Insurance is comming out to look at it. Pretty sure its going to be totaled I mean high book on its $4,500 and insurance said if its more than $3,800 dmg they wont fix it they'll just total it out. Its not hard to cause a couple grand damage to a car at all. I hope they total it out because I'd rather start from scratch. Plus with me leaving for Korea it'll be easier.
I was really thinking about a Subaru WRX but I started looking at more F-body's and I just can't leave them. I want an LS1 but I thought they were running way more expensive. I really wanted a Trans-Am but then I ran across
http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=593503 and it just made me mess my pants. I think its gorgeous. So hopefully i'll save some cash and be able to pick something like that up. My question is how far would you travel to pick up a car? I'm thinking of just looking for the perfect car. I dont care where its at and if I have to i'll fly out and pick it up and drive home. When I find what I want its going to be perfect and I want it.
You guys are probably wondering what happen. Well I was coming home late at night. Doing about 45mph in a 40 zone. I saw a figure so I started to head over to the brake. Then a dear bolted out in front of me. I knew hitting it would really be bad. So I swerved and braked hard. I would have been ok because the tree line from the woods sets a ways back off the road. However, ocasionally there are staggered trees that stick kind of far out. Go figure I found one and the front end of my car hit it. I didn't hit it more than 20mph tops, but you know how plastic bumpers are. Put a nice whole in it and bent the hood. It looks like it even pushed the feners back a hair. The real messed up part is I ran over a tree that trunk that was on the ground near it. So it knocked it out of alignment bad and bent my rim because I hit it before I go slow down and hit the tree.
Its got full coverage on it and like I said getting it looked at tomorrow and we'll see what happens.
Sucks that you are loosing the Camaro.
But if you can get a project that you would enjoy more, then I guess it could be a good thing.
Well I really enjoy the camaro. I just wish it was a bit newer and an LS1 =P If I wasn't leaving and I didn't wreck it I would be keeping it and keeping it as a project. But since I am and I didn wreck it i'm going to step it up a bit. Would like a newer car. Leather, 6-speed nice LS1.
So, are you going to let them take the Camaro off of your hands, or will you part it out? It's TPI, right? I would be interested in ALOT of parts off of that car.. but the fundage is low due to christmas and other crap right now.
How bad was the front lip damaged? God I love your Camaro, it's exactly what I want mine to be appearance wise, besides I like my TTII's..
Sorry that your possibly going to lose it, I could not imagine losing mine.. I would buy it back and fix it if it were me. From the sounds of it, it should not cost much to fix it.. new bumper cover, new bumper bracket, new hood.. some paint, should be good. Alignment is like $50. I wouldn't think that would total over $3k, but labor is what would get you.
Whatever you do, let me know.. sucks that Louisiana is so far away from where I am.

Yea cheeter you need to be a member.
Ling427, no the damage isn't bad at all. I could fix it myself real cheap. You know how it is though if you just drop a car off at the shop and say fix it. Something minor can really be expensive. They jack parts up a ton and labor is a joke. I'd really like to part it out, but I leave in a couple weeks I dont have time. I would probably take the nice check they give me and fix it myself and use the money for full paint, set of rims, aftermarket hood etc.. But I wouldn't have time before I left and when I get back i'm moving to FL. I cant leave my wife with the car. Its just too much hassle neither of us wish to deal with at the moment. If I decide for another 3rd gen i'll just have to hunt and make a 7 hour drive for another one =P
Although I probably will buy it back and sell it to this guy I work with. He's got cash in hand waiting. In fact he was wanting to buy it before I wrecked it. Even if I dont sell it or part it out the stero system is coming out and i'll have a Hotikas Upper Strut Tower brace. I'll let it go cheap if you want. PM me on that.
thats all the damage? my friends 86 iroc Z when he rearended a jetta it bend the whole nose of the car down took out the radiator bent the fender in to it was rubbing the tire. and bent the frame. the car is right now geting fixed and will be back on the road. it looks like you just messed up the bumper not near as bad as my friends.
That's not terrible damage.
New bumper cover, wheel, lip, and hood and you should be good.
www.thirdgen.org could help you ALOT with finding those parts for cheap. Right now there is a set of wheels for sale just like yours for like $150-$200 for all 4. If it were me, I would fix it and drive it again.. but if you would be happier with something different, you should just let me have the Camaro.

that is way to easy to fix
hell i was at a junk yard this past weekend had 3 of them rims on a RS model
No its not that bad. Its only bad because I leave for Korea on 8Jan07. Its going to be a little hard to fix while i'm in another country. Plus my wife will be moving to FL while i'm gone. I dont want to leave her with that car while i'm gone. It would have to be towed or a rim replaced and someone drive it. Sit for a year then try and fix it. Its just not worth it. I would like to keep it but between going to Korea for a year and moving to FL its just too difficult.
what are you doing with the car selling it? you can send that to a junkyard for that
Umm, the pictures of it leaving kinda mean its gone lol. I had a friend who was going to buy it but he's really unreliable and I didn't hear from him. So I just let insurance come and take it. I seriously felt like crying while it was leaving. I'm gonna miss it. I loved that car, lol.
I been looking on ebay at f-bods and theres actually a lot of them under 10k that are in really good shape

Yea same here. Right around 10,000 is probably going to be my max. I really want an LS1 F-body. I just cant help to think how nice a 4-door would be. I keep thinking maybe just save a little more and spend a little more and get an SRT-4 but ehhh...too many people have them and I dont know if I like the styling all that well. I like the WRX a lot. I have too much time right now to think about it and change my mind =P
I actually found a used Cobalt SS with very low miles for 16k. Thats a steal and I would probably snatch it up if I was buying now. It was just barely broke in good.
yeah , that does make it harder to keep it and fix it
id be hitting your friend over the head ,LOL
it pains me to see that car like that. that is my fav style of camaro, and with it being black its even better.. keep it if u can bro that things a @!#$in classic...
but good luck with whatever u decide to do.

LOL hate to break it to ya, but everyone has a Turd Gen Camaro too man.. so it would be ok if you did get an SRT-4.

That all depends where you're at. Around here there was about 5 maybe 6 you'd see driving around. Mine and another black Iroc-Z were the only ones that weren't completely beat to @!#$. I cant turn the corner around here though without running into an SRT-4.
Its like that around a lot of military bases. You get young guys no wife and kids make ok pay but have good credit because they are military and live in the dorms so have no bills. They spend it all on their cars. RSX's, SRT-4's, WRX STI's, EVO's, and Mustang GTs are common as hell.
