What do you guys think would be more fun during the summer to drive on the weekends: a kawasaki ninja (probably a zx-6r) or an older c3 corvette?
Right now I've got the cavalier and an old, and I mean really old kawasaki that I used last summer, a KH 400cc which got me around town well enough. But I'm looking for something a bit higher up on the scale. I love riding the bike and the gas mileage, but hate taking it on these jersey highways (cut off and almost hit multiple times by idiot drivers not paying attention). BUT I also want a project car for the upcoming years and my neighbor is selling his 82 silver vette with 36k miles, one with those gorgeous curvy body lines.
I've got money left from this fall when I was saving for a trans am. Which by the way was sold out from under my nose to someone who stopped by the seller with $100 more cash in hand. So I'm at a loss and can't decide..
Which would you go for before time runs out and either is sold?

82 is one of the worst years for corvettes. Crossfire injection=garbage
I've test ridden the vette, maybe I need to try a bike with more than 40 something hp..my kawasaki is pretty damn slow.
bike, definitely. if it was a different year vette, maybe i'd change my mind.
its up to you. id go try to test drive both. that will definitely give you a better idea of what you like better.

LOL I know what you mean about driving on the New Jersey highways, lol... I think some of the craziest drivers are in New Jersey and this is coming from a guy who grew up in Manhattan, lol.

if the vette doesnt have a top, then you need it. otherwise, go with the bike. summer was meant for the wind in your face
Check out my CARDOMAIN page
Get the Vette and drop an LS1 in and call it a day

Vette is very slow unless you drop a crate motor in it.
Best Time 15.917 at 86.86MPH
i agree if you do go with the vette do an engine swap. save up and drop an LS1 in it...

I have driven a number of fast cars.. I have a 300HP AWD turbo car (most fun of any car I've driven), I used to own a 375HP 68 RS Camaro, my brother had a 10 second 67 F-bird, I have drive a 69 Vette with a 454 and a 4 speed.
None of them are anything like a bike. The bike wins, hands down, no contest. Nothing is more fun.. Heck a 40HP trail bike is way more fun than any car I've driven. You're talking about a 100HP sportbike. An Absolute blast. Nothing, absolutely nothing but a sportbike is a sportbike. It doesn't get any better without growing wings, period.
Ride safe, save the lunacy for the track.. Stay alive, have a blast.
The only regrets I have abolut my sportbike are that I don't get to ride it enough.

Thanks for all the input guys, the vette is a collectors edition T-top and I'd be getting it not for speed or social status symbol..I just really like that model. It's got the old L82 so only like 200hp. Just looking at the pricing for an ls1 crate engine it'd cost as much as getting a bike...
I'll be trying out a zx-6r in a week or two, whenever the guy I'm emailing gets back in town from vacation. Cc's really don't mean squat when a bike is from 1976...so its ~40hp (probably 35 now) and old in need of replacement carbs make it feel as fast as the cavalier.
you could pick up a used LS1 waaaaaaaay cheaper than new. Just keep your eyes open for an f-body with a wrecked rear end. Check with your local auction.

Umm, what bike are you taking about? No Ninjas were made until 1984.
The ZX6R will have anywhere from about 85WHP to about 102WHP depending on year. The newer injected ones are all around 100WHP (about 110BHP), the carbed ones in the late 90s and very early 21st century are around 95HP.
I have a buddy with a 2001 and it's carbed but goes quite nicely and brakes like you threw out an anchor.. In fact I think it's the only 600cc sportbike I have ridden with 3 pison calipers on the front.. Incredible brakes, better than my 03 CBR600RR.
Good luck whichever way you go.. I still like the pre-1978 Vettes the best, slow or not they have great lines.

My 06 zx6r put down 108 hp at the wheel before exhaust, fyi. Total blast, I'd say go for the ninja.
Sorry i squashed those sentences together. The bike I currently own has the 35-40 hp, 1976 kawasaki KH 400..a fart in the wind feels faster
It's looking like the ninja is a better option. The guy said the vette was rust free until i had the chance to crawl underneath and check it out. It looks like somebody pulled up the titanic, all that was missing was the barnacles...sad really.
MR2 spyder...very very fun summer cars.. then again i doubt thats in the price range as there around 10k+
