Car model names are getting out of hand...
Sunday, December 17, 2006 10:03 AM
It used to be the name the manufacturer gave a car model would conjure up an image of what the car was about. Either they are running out names or the marketers arent car enthusiests. The worst part is alot of these new car names can really be made fun of.

Ford Focus-If there are none of the lot, they are "Out-of-Focus".
Ford Edge- If it doesnt sell, it will send Ford over the edge.
Ford Fusion- Starts in cold weather, "Cold Fusion". Car catchs on fire, it is a "Fusion reaction".
Mercury Mystique- Nicknamed the Mercury Mistake.
Lincoln MK series- I keep calling them MLK series.
Pontiac Vibe- Describes the body structure after a few thousand miles.
Cadillac XLR- I think XLR is too close to the name of the tub/ bathroom cleaner.
Chevrolet Aveo- Sounds like a skin ointment.
Toyota TRD- TRD sounds like a description, not performance name.

My point is car manufacturers need to get more car enthusiests in their marketing depts. To be fair, there are some cool names (and numbers) on current cars, but there are too many dopey named cars too.

I want to share something with you - the three sentences that will get you through life. Number one, 'cover for me', Number two, 'oh, good idea, boss', Number three, 'it was like that when I got here.'

TRD is Toyota Racing Development
and everything else you named there is retarded
wtf is a Silverado, a Jetta, or a friggin F-150?
they are nothing WITHOUT the car/truck they are named after
seriously, was the word Camaro in existance before the camaro came out? No, it wasnt, but the CAR made the name popular not the name made the car popular. NOW when you hear camaro you get a picture in your head, but before you didnt
this post is stupid and pointless.

Forgot the capitalization, and it's "Oh, Jesus-me!" It's an exclamation.

I believe that when Jinxed reads a post that he finds either pointless, boring, or not worth replying logically too, he likes to throw a "monkey wrench" into the "machinery" of the post. He likes to post random pictures, such as two teen girls sharing a steaming hot semen facial, or in this case, an aging throttle body. This method diverts the reader's attention, just briefly, and takes them to a whole knew level of thought. By doing this he can express his thoughts and feelings toward the subject matter in a passive way. I could however be wrong. Either way I get a kick out of it.

Could you imagine being the creator of this so-called "steaming hot" semen? That would really hurt coming out, wouldn't it?

LOL, I've heard this before. My friends fiance used to own one and she hated the thing. Specially if it needed maintainence. It cost an arm and a leg, lol. She referred to it as the "Mistake". Then its transmission blew out and there no longer was a reverse, and putting it in park was a nightmare, lol

At least most of those are NAMES as apposed to just letters or numbers.

Geez, you guys are taking this post so serious! I now what TRD stands for. But it sounds like T-U-R-D when you read it. My point was only that alot of the new car names are kinda of goofy these days. The name Camaro doesnt come to mind performance either (the translation of Buddy does), however Z28 or Yenko does. I'm not ragging on the cars themselves, only having alittle fun with some of the new car names.
