i have a 2005 malibu maxx LS with the V6 and its a great car. the malibu has got some good right ups on it. the new ones comeing out are going to be the best ones for sure. i also have a 06 cobalt SS with the 2.4L 5 speed and i love it. its such a fun car to drive around in and want to just get on the highway and nail the gas. its a fun car and i had a sunfire befor it and you cant say its still a jbody. its got things in it they never came with. the impala is a nice car i have been seeing more and more of them on the road and they draw to the older people it seems. or the grand prix my dad had a 04 GT and when he sold it with 60K on it he said it was the best car he ever drove. from the power of the 3.8 to how it looks. it was never in the shop for 1 thing. the G6 is another nice car i would go for the vert the are nice looking with the top down on it.
thanks for the info man,

Saturn aura was pretty damn nice when i drove it.
Is there a reason you are limiting yourself to GM? I would suggest looking into some other cars. I know when we were car shopping Mazda was doing some awesome rebates on the Mazda6. If I remember correctly it was a 4500 dollar rebate. The Sentra is a great car. The Corolla is awesome and Subaru always has some great cars you can find reasonable (new and used).
If you're really set on GM a guy at work just bought a new G5. He has nothing but good words to say about it. Just a thought.

Yeah, my mom works for GM = discount. Really thinkin about getting a truck now, most GM cars in my price range are really boxy looking and not so attractive
