Another n00b-No J-body though
Tuesday, November 14, 2006 8:24 PM
Hey, how's it goin? Name's Matt. From Westport, IN. Was originally gonna try to get rid of a set of Eibach springs, but they turned out to be DropZones, and from what the guy I talked to said their worth more at the junkyard.

Anyway, Just figured I'd go ahead and tell a little about myself:
Full time student in Radiology. Work on Supras when I have "free" time. Thats about it that anyone would actually be interested in.

My cars:
1982 Toyota Supra
102,XXX miles

Engine:
6mge - Stock Everything
All gaskets (except head gasket) and seals were changed this past Winter (Jan 2006).
Doug Thorley header
Rabid Chimp Intake
Dual 12" Flex-A-Lite Fans
mkIII Fluidyne Radiator
All emmissions removed
HKS Filter
2.5" Exhaust from the Doug Thorley back w/ an AeroSpeed muffler

Suspension:
Adco Front/Rear sway bars
Cusco front/rear strut bars
Monroe Sensatrac Shocks
Suspension Techniques lowering springs
Rear Camber Mod has been done.

Body Modifications:
Parts from multiple year Supras- Rear wing and Rear bumper. I never noticed it until someone pointed it out to me, the bumper anyway. Obviously it's not a stock paint code. All door jambs and the like were painted the right way... It's obvious in the pics that the job wasn't rushed. Also noticeable if you've seen the car in person.

Interior:
DAD Racing seats
I believe it's a Celica interior, I liked the hard plastic better than trying to find a good vinyl set somewhere, or piecing one together.

And I took these pics as she was sitting in the garage. I don't like to see her dirty, ever.

Pre-build pics

*It's the red one...*

And a few of my 89 Turbo: (AKA the beater when it feels like running right that day)

And my exhaust pic....

Open downpipe is so much fun. If only I wasn't too poor to get the rest of the exhaust fixed. Oh, and I don't care a whole heck of a lot about this car, btw.

If anyone has any questions about Supras or needs parts, please don't hesitate to ask. The silver slug shown above is #10 for me, and I have more crapp in stock than the average Toyota dealership, and I'm always looking to sell.

Thanks for looking!

i like the body style that the green one is, but id drop an LSX in that thing and call it a day. And I think your green burned my retinas, not a huge fan of Nuclear Reactor Green.

I dont have an LS1 but I'm on LS1tech forums. I dont have an off roading truck but I am on off road forums. I dont have a honda or an str4 but I have log ins for both of those sites. So shut the hell up! Personally I think that body style is sick, cause nobody expects it to kick their ass when they get killed by it. I'm glad the green paint job didn't stop at the outside and you did the engine compartment as well, at least someone takes pride in their work, of course they aren't anyone who owns a j-body strangely enough. The worst part is that this kid comes on here with a turbo supra and doesn't laugh at us, being that he could probably take 3/4 of the cars on this site at the staggering 150 hp monsters!

In school for radiology? Where you goin to school? Why you choose radiology? Can you still drop out and go to nursing school? Is there still time? Screw xray! go nursing! Make twice the amount of money! X-ray is for pussies! Oh wait.... I'm a Radiographic Technologist..... or X-ray tech if you wanna be a dick about it! Seriously, I recommend goin into nursing if you still aren't married to the field.

Wow. I had no idea the site would be so hostile towards a little Supra. Atleast i'm not posting up saying I got 2 mkIV's and then slapping up some pics I found from google. It's completely cool that ya'll dont like my car, and I really dont care if you do or not. Why did I join this forum? I'm a car guy. I'm die-hard Toyota but I still like checking out other cars and forums, meeting new people is why I got into cars in the first place. Not a good enough reason? Hit me with the ban-stick or w/e.

Scott. I'm not married to the field at all, as a matter of fact (as sad as it sounds) this was my back-up of back-ups. First two choices were military related and apparently I'm color blind. But w/e. I'm actually still trying to convince myself to finish this school just to say I did it, but getting motivated is so hard when you can honestly say that you couldn't care less about it. I go to school at a local Hospital that's got a partnership w/ Ivy Tech State College here in Indiana. and after reading your post, it deffinitely didn't help. I've been giving a lot of thought about Rad. Therapy, however. That way i could atleast get to know patients a little better than "take in a deep breathe and hold it" ya know?

Funny. I'm color blind too! Aint that a b!tch???

Rad Therapy? Thats almost as bad as MRI! Actually, no, second thought, its worse sooo much worse! You get the privilage of seeing people at their worst. I did a round through radiation therapy. First off, its boring as all hell! If its not the patient's first time through the machine, all you do is connect the dots, put the right plate in or program the correct plating system into the computer to construct. You meet up with the patient for a couple of weeks maybe a couple of months to get to know the patient. Then for some reason they don't come in to get their dose of radiation. And you miss the cookies they always bring in, or the pictures of their grand kids, or the stories of the good ole days, then you stop and think, where is Mrs. Smith? Then you get the call. "Is this the Radiation Therapy department? Yes... I regret to inform you that Mrs. Smith has passed away, so you can now schedule another patient in her place. Have a good day..."

Thats exactly what I wanna do! WHATEVER! If I never see another RT clinic it would be too soon!

MRI is just plain boring, just plain boring! That is until a 10 year old codes and some idiot from the Code Team comes in with an O2 bottle and the magnet on the MRI machine is so powerful it rips it out of their hands and into the gantry, which coincidentally is where the 10 year old is, who's head you are imaging. It bashes the 10 year old in the skull crushing it and kills them instantly. Thats the only fun there!

Catscan, bangin. Doesn't take forever like MRI, you have patient interactions but nothing long term. Thats one thing I miss about working at Kingston Hospital, doin catscan.

Nuclear med, IDK about you, but I get off on giving someone a dose of radiation and warning them not to go near small children or pregnant women.

I am currently working for Elite Sports Medicine where I do allllllllll orthopedics, from infants to 60 year olds. All bone work, easy, I did 10 patients today so I was bored outa my mind but what can you do but enjoy makin decent loot and browsin the internet, listening to music on my 10 dollar durabrand speaker system hahahahahaha!

general x-ray... not bad, a lot of "take a deep breath in and hold it!" Get into an ED and you are golden. Trauma will hold your interest!

Fluoro... I have a couple of things here... hysterosalpingogram, corpuscavernosagram, barium enema,
how about this, I'm gonna give you a visual. Go to home depot, buy yourself a calking gun and some calk (of course its barium, not calk and you aren't using the whole thing). Shove it up your butt, try and crap it out while fluoroing with an audience. I'll just let you look up the first three or ask your teacher about them.

OR fluoro... SICK AS HELL!!! This is the sole thing that kept me going at New Britain General Hospital. I loved it. Neuro surgery, spines, fractures, reductions, femoral popliteal artery graphs, I could go on! I loved every minute of this. But the trick here is, get through being a student, its ok to hate goin up there as a student, everyone does, but then try to get up there as much as possible when you graduate. Between traumas in the ED and OR surgeries I couldn't have a better time.

Ok, so now you are thinking, this kid does not like his job and just doesn't know what to do with his life. Quite the opposite. I love my job, I loved goin to school, hell even graduated top of my class. Is it worth it? Yea, if its a cheap school. I have 44 thousand dollars in school loans, but I have a bachelors degree as well, which means I gotta go back to school and get my masters and get the hell outta here!

Am I happy? Yes

Is this what I want to do with the rest of my life? No

Any questions? I have more if you would like.

I've done mobile radiography too, but I will save that one for another time...

how far into the program are you? Just a month or a year? The cool thing is if you finish it and get your ARRT, you can find a job anywhere...

corpuscavernosagram... thats a new one for me. BE's are the best! What are you talking about?! When you were tlaking about the caulk gun I was ready for a "foreign body" story. I got an awesome pic from Sat of a guy with a 10" vibrator in his rectum, I had no idea why a healthy looking guy wouldn't be able to stand up for a few Xrays. I'll ask about that corpuscavernosagram, though. Our Hospital doesn't do a whole lot of 'weird' stuff like that. I only have about 8 months or so left, so I know I'll stick with it. My fiance will be graduating from nursing a month before me and we plan to do the traveling bit after we get some experience under our belts. Shouldn't be too shabby of a life, I suppose.

Glad all that got cleared up, I was going to start comparing ya'll to the Honda folk.

My DD while the Supra is down for a 5 speed swap is a 97 Cavalier Convertable. Does that help out in any way? Just your typical white/ a black top. It'd be alright if it wasn't a convertable and it actually had some room to stretch out. The cup holders are awesome though. Never had a Supra w/ one factory. Sorry, it's the little things that amaze me.

I was going to say thats a nice car and good job until i saw you put down the honda people.

thats REALLY ugly, the body, the color, eveything, (although props on doing aproper paint job, jams, engine bay and all) I've just never liked the pre MKIV supras and I hate flashy gren colors (excpet the Gallardo)

i never meant to be an ass about it, i was just making a statement that i dont like bright green. and i also would never bother building the inliner for that thing, id just dump one of the random small blocks laying about my shed in there. So dont take anything personally from me or anyone. and yes i think you did an knock out job on the paint, just the colors not my thing.
