wasn't to sure where to post it, but being as this isnt a j i figured this would be a good spot
neway, im lookin at a 94 grand am as a beater/ car to drive during college,
its got a QUAD ohc with 107,000 miles on it
when i get up to or around 60 in it, it kinda starts to vibrate just a little
not to much, but enough to where i can feel it on the steering wheel and through the pedal/floor with my feet.
im not really worried about it, but im just curious, i dont wanna buy another p.o.s.
so
its my best guess that maybe its a small alignment problem maybe
any other possible causes?
Axle out of alignment
Weights on wheels came off
Bad motor mount / loose
Check the tire tread and tire PSI make sure they are all good.
when then motor mouts on mine broke.. we replaced them and it did it all the time after that.. make sure the motor mounts arent coming loose... i never found out what it was on mine.. i sold the car a few months later
here comes the boost!
If you don't want to get another POS then don't get that car...SOHC Quad needs a head gasket like every 30k miles...
Well im NOT getting this car for a d@mn good reason
see, a friend of my grandma's family owns a car dealership in iowa.
small time, but still a car dealership
anyway theyre letting me test drive it for three days, sat, sun, and mon (today)
i was drivin around town, saw a couple friends in one of their cars
so i laid on the gas a little (bout half throttle maybe...?)
anyway it just kinda gave out, it was acceleratin and then it just cut off, like maybe it was in nuetral or i wasnt givin any gas at all
after that it wouldnt accelerate very quick got up to 60 took me a minute and a half at least
and i got home and it died in my driveway, and wouldnt start until four hours later when i finally got it runnin again
now it sounds like it has a knock...
i can't find a half-decent car (that i can afford at least) for sh*t, and its startin to piss me off just a little
