I may be picking up a 1997 Dodge Dakota in the next few days. It's a single cab, V6 4x4 auto. Anyone have any experience with a truck like this? Any known problems to look for?
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

My sister had a 1998 with the 318. We beat the piss out of that thing and it still drove strong. They can take a beating.
the v6's in those are very reliable

We're going to look at it and drive it tomorrow after work.

That's what I thought I'd heard people say before.

good friend of mine has an 02 ext cab with the 4.7. Has a 3 inch bl, 33s, srt-10 hood, headers, exhaust, road armor bumper and winch on the way. been a great truck, 120k on it and no major problems. they can take a beating.
women are like cars you have to test drive the new one before you trade in the old one
Well... Wasn't impressed with the Dakota. I think the previous user beat it. Plus, the cabin felt much too cramped. Going to look at a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder tomorrow. Hopefully we'll snag that. It's a little more money than the Dodge would have been, but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

No doubt. I've considered one. The wife (who will most likely be the primary driver of the vehicle as she has an almost hour commute through the mountains and could use the 4x4 come winter) has her heart set on a Pathfinder. Her dad had two of them that he ran into the ground 230k+ miles each. Besides, the only Cherokees I'm finding in our area are either fairly new and out of our price range, or so old and busted I want nothing to do with them.
