Hey guys i was woundering if any one on here owns one or have driven in one and can any body tell me if they are any good? Is there any forms for them? thx
I don't know, but for anyone else from the US not familiar with this car, I looked it up and saw that it's the Suzuki Forenza here
im pretty sure it was only built for the Canadian market. its this weird 5 door wagon powered by a 2.2 ecotec.
i drove one once as a dealer courtesy car. there slow with a really poor suspension. reminded me of my cavalier.....but slower.
im sure there good as a daily driver for the people who don't really care about performance.

Ya it does not have a 2.2 ecotec. ya it might be a little slow but the suspension is pretty good independent front and back plus it has all wheel disk breaks.
the engine is from Holden (GM Austrailia - GTO) it's been around for ages and has a fairly decent aftermarket down under. The car it's self is great for what it is.

It has a 1.8 DOHC Deawoo engine, capable of 118bhp. SLow as an ox really..... Freind had one and it was a peice of crap. It is also selling like crap. Why it is no longer selling here.

um, do you read?
I work at American Suzuki Motor Corporation, we sell the Optra 5 as the Suzuki Reno in the U.S.. The motor is all 100% GM (Holden) actually the Reno/Optra 5 is based on the Forenza which is a daewoo platform. But the design and engineering where done in house at Suzuki here in Brea, Ca. and GM. The Forenza is a great car and is selling really well in the U.S.....The reno however for some reason is not fairing as well. They both have the same Holden motor in them.
Not Daewoo.
the entire motor was designed, engineered, developed, and built by Holden. It's also been around a long time and has been proven to be a very dependable motor.

Look at www.suzuki-forums.com and/or www.daewootech.com
Ok I bought one and it a nice little car great on gas and 1st to 3rd gear is pretty quick. Well quicker then what i thought it was going to be. I think the optra has a 2.0 L
You have 129hp U20SED motor under the hood. The one you want to change it with is the Z20LEH found in Vauxhall Astra VXR. Makes 240bhp stock
How much are thoes going for and what do you have to do for a swap. Change motor mounts? and what trans do i use
hold it....
Are telling me that there is a turbo motor from Holden capable of 200+HP that is a direct "bolt-in" for Suzuki Reno/Forenzas?
That is F'ing sick! the Reno is actually a very nice little car and all it really needs IS horse power. Suzuki with Holden motors that's the smartest thing they've ever done as a car company.

Is there is, and its not the end of the story.
For starters look at 2nd gen Sunbird forum. You may want to look for 2.0 Turbo, also known as C20GET. Optra / Reno and Sunbird share the bottom end. For starters, C20GET is direct swap - you would use your existing motor mount and change wiring. Or go with the megasquirt MSnE. There are variants of this motor that are turbocharged in Europe. Engine codes are Z20LET, Z20LEH or Z20SEH. This motor was also installed in the Speedster Turbo. Otherwise, you are looking for Astra G Turbo, Zafira VXR, Astra VXR etc. There is also extensive info on the swap, or conversion on the existing motor. There are two members on daewootech.com doing turbo conversion. There are others already running this motor in Daewoo Nubira, which happens to use same motor as Reno / Optra but with older management.
