The new 2007 CR-V was worth the wait over the 2006 model.
Karo and I went and test drove a 4 wheel drive EX with leather this past weekend. While it is beautifully designed both inside and out, I was not impressed with the drive. The are continuing to produce these things with a 4cyl. engine, it is not enough to haul. It felt very heavy as I was driving it.
Overall, Honda did a great job redesigning it but they need to think about whats under the hood now
Guess its time to check out the Acura RDX
The RDX is Turbo is it not???
Were you watching the thread cuz you responed rather quickly, lol. But Mmmm Turbo.......Saweeeet!!!
Went to another page and came back, guess you responded as I was reading.
He is always right.

See... told ya it would be worth the wait.
Honda made lots of improvements over the previous gen that makes it more convenient and roomier.
As for feeling heavy... well, you did drive the heaviest version. But here Honda did some engineering and the new model went up in weight by 50-100lbs, so it is not that much like you'd find in American vehicles.
It has about 10 more ponies and about the same of torque, which it will offset the weight gain. Sadly, the peppy manual is gone.
Now the RDX is based on the new CR-V, just with jazzier clothes and engine. Prices start around the low $30K. That model will certainly feel livelier then the CR-V.
Since you are looking in this segment and want a lot of room with some oomph, go with Karo and check out the Suzuki XL-7. Based on the Equinox, but with the 3.6L V6 found in the Caddy CTS, nicely built/laid-out (better then Chevy's version) with a great warranty too.
With either vehicle you guys choose, you guys will not go wrong.

you know, i love when people like to criticize others about their behavior,
but turn around and do the same freaking thing months later...
the rav4 is another gutless wonder... personally i like the kia sorento. its pretty roomy and you can get it with the 3.5 or 3.6 V6 that kia/hyundai is running now. its got the pep you want, a great warranty, and the price tag is very appealing
Injection is nice but id rather be BLOWN!

Karo said no american made....he also told me "no" for the BMW X3, that I would be getting more options with the RDX
Go test drive a used RX300 or RX330 Steph
Our 01 RX300 has an awesome interior, PLENTY of space, the V6 has GREAT power and in the
city it averages 28+ mpg
All of that and we picked it up for only $16,500 with 70k on the clock
Plus it's a Lexus, can't go wrong with that

um, have you driven the new one with the V6? my parents bought it, and i like it a LOT. it's also roomier than the Hyundai/Kia SUVs. my dad attempted to get into the Hyundai and didn't fit - his 6'3" frame doesn't bend well, and he kept hitting his head on the roof.

Honda actually made a good looking ride IMO with a CRV.
Karo said no american car. Karo has been talking to me about the Trailblazer SS for a long time. WTF happen to that?
He still wants that for himself, that hasn't changed. LOL

The Sorento IMO is a piece of @!#$, I drive them at work all day long and the suspension/handling feels very sloppy, almost to the point where it feels like it's gonna tip over.
Before you make false accusations I know it's not a sports car, doesn't handle like one and in no way shape or form did I say I go AutoXing in it, this is normal driving.

Ah ok Steph.
Good move on the BMW. BMWs are not very reliable. Now if you buy new, then ok, as it will have warranty but be prepared to trade when the warranty is up because it will get really pricey.
If not domestic, one SUV I will strongly recommend is Mazda's CX-7. The car is surprisingly agile and peppy. I took that ute through the test track and was very stable, you can tell Mazda did some good engineering here. Very roomy and comfy with lots of space and well built. IMO it looks great. It is worth a look.
Another worth a look is Hyundai's 2007 Santa-Fe. Bigger/roomier overall there's a choice of two V6's 2.7L w/185HP and 3.3L w/242HP. Craftsmanship on this model looks expensive, the car feels settled on the road but felt heavier on the corners over the CX-7, but still car-like. Best of all it comes with Hyundai reliability which by manufacture is only third to Toyota and Honda respectively.
If you are looking at the X3 then take a gander at the Land-Rover's upcoming LR2. All new from the ground up. Based Ford's C1 platform which is on Europe's new Ford Focus and Volvo S40. Here is a 230HP 3.2L V6 with 6-speed auto tranny and comes with all the goodies for rough terrain and it will start under $30K. This Ute is mostly based from Ford's European section... which means good and it is not domestic like you guys want.

Hey, can you tell me anything about the Land Rover Freelander? I know that they are no longer made but do you have any info on their reliablity, etc?
I can get a used one for about 10k-13k...which I would rather spend than 30k+ right now LOL
LowFire: Lexus isn't my thing, one of my co-workers and I have been looking at all these small utes and she is sold on the RX but for some reason I just don't care for them. Nice vehicle though, congrats on your purchase
lol... wow i got toasted.
i was mearly saying for the price you pay for the kia/hyundai suvs, i believe you get a better car for your buck than the toyota/lexus and honda/ acura.
they arent too bad for room from what ive seen. im also not 6'3", but im about 6 and dont have a problem in them. as for the handling, its an suv, they arent supposed to be the absolute best. i know you said this was under normal driving that it felt sloppy, bt for the money you save with buying the sorento or the sante fe/tucson (cant remember which hyundai is the rebadge) you could upgrade the suspension and still have a couple grand in your pocket to buy a toy to pull behind the thing.
im inpressed how much kia and hyundai are improving. imho they are the most improved automaker over the last 10-15 years. christ remember the pony and the excel? now look at the new accent, elantra, and the sonata. they have grown in leaps and bounds and like mr goodwrench said, their quality is 3rd behind toyota and honda, and i remember their initial quality being ranked number 1 a little while ago.
if money isnt a factor i would probably get something with a bit more creature comforts, but since money seems like it will always be a factor for me, they arent too far down my list for considerations when the time comes.

They are indeed improving, the Azera is a VERY nice car so is the new Sonata. I think that they will be a top contender in a couple of years. As for SUV's I personally wouldn't get a Kia/Hyundai.

They are ok. They are the most reliable from the old school LRs simply because they are not packed with gizmos like their Range Rovers. So they are prone to less problems. But this was LR based with a older Ford Duratec V6 w/170HP. If you thought CR-V felt sluggish, it is worse on this model.
If you have the choice between this and the CR-V. I'll heavily tell you to go for the CR-V. The only thing the FreeLander has it over the CR-V is the off-road prowlness and it's cachet.

I think you mean offroad PROWESS
I was going to say that mainly... The Freelander is fine, but you're going to have a great offroader without much oomf on-road.
And now for something completely different... Click the Minister.
I dont' know what exactly what you are looking for.
A true SUV or a CUV?
New or Used?
How many passengers 5, 6, 7, 8?
I know he said no domestics, But I can't help it I have to tell you about one. LOL
Saturn Outlook (not out yet) But is almost as nice as the Buick Enclave.
