I finally got a new car
Tuesday, October 03, 2006 7:21 PM
I passed the cavalier on to my sister over a year ago and haven't had anything worth mentioning since. I had a 96 v6 firebird and a 94 blazer but this one is my car. I've wanted one since 03 and I finally broke down and got a loan for it.

You've had that "7 months without a date and counting" sig for as long as I've been here. Perhaps the reason you are dateless is because you're trapped in some weird bubble where the time/space continuum follows no laws?

though i fail to see the humor in your statement, his car's quite a nice one. the only complaint i have about them would be the FWD configuration.

i could take the sig off... ive had a girlfriend since december....

as far as the car, the aftermarket is getting better. the 4 cyl ones are a little better as far as that goes, but a supercharger , new exhaust, and some konis with eibach springs are the goal. not too far from the goal i had for the z24 i was going to buy before i realized id just rather have something a little nicer. its already more comfortable than the cavalier was, and it rides better. i've grown out of the body kit and flashy car for no reason stage. i've never wanted a show car, but all i had on the cavalier was suspension work and a body kit. this one is just going to be my daily driver to enjoy my commute everyday

Nice car, I think I would've opted for the 4cyl with the 6-spd vice the v-6 with the auto, but hey it's your car and you have to drive it. I could never own one though, I just feel too cramped in the interior I hate the high window line and not even being able to rest my arm on the window when it's down.

as far as the 4 cyl 6 spd... if i was going to run a turbo with crap tons of boost, yes that would be a lot of fun. thats not question. as for me driving to work and class everyday, i'll keep my auto 6 cyl. its still a lot more fun than my old car or the past 2 i've had.

i love how people always say 'its your car. you have to drive it.' its exactly what i wanted i'm very happy to drive it.

about the 'korean' statement ...hyundai is doing quite well for itself. i dont think theyre worried about that sort of bias at this point. they've pretty much moved past the old cars with mitsubishi motors that fell apart pretty quickly.

Actually driving a Manual to work everyday is not bad at all. I do it everyday in rush-hour traffic both ways. And you couldn't convince me in anyway to trade in mine for an auto.

If you had knees as crappy as mine, and you drove through Hartford, CT like I do every day, it'd be a different story. I, too love driving a manual over an automatic, but for a daily driver, I'll always take an auto. It's all about personal prefference and what a person is comfortable with...

Anyway, Chris, congrats on the buy, and Welcome to the Hyundai family. I have always loved the new Tibs in silver. My good friend has a red V6 auto and I drive it every chance I get to. Great car and totally reliable. ENJOY!

I'm not a fan of the tibbys. But it does look nice and you can make them look beautifull for fairly cheap.

not to shabby, i like the tibs

i too, would never trade my manual for an auto, i have an auto rental right now and it SUCKS

I'd take an auto for convenience, and I'm gettin old... lol

Seriously though, Autos aren't all that bad when you consider the cost and inconvenience of replacing a standard clutch and fly wheel, and the fact that you can wind up an auto when you go to launch... they do however suck when you're auto-xing.

If it was just for me, I'd go manual, but because muh hunny is even more ancient than I, auto is a must...
