So what are your guys thoughts on the Sentra 1.8s? The reason I ask is i'm looking into buying one. Here's the quick story on my car situation.
My wife and I were looking out getting out of our explorer. So I bought her a 2004 Mazda RX-8. She LOVED it. Well a few days after we got it I got orders (military) to go to Korea for a year by myself. Right after that the RX-8 started having problems. So I took it back to the lot and talk to them. They were VERY nice about everything. I was suprsied. We ended up getting our Explorer back and giving back the RX-8. She wants another RX-8 but we decided that maybe since i'm leaving we should get something good on gas, reliable, and cheap. My wife will be going to college starting Sept. 7.
We've been looking for a while and decided to check out the Sentras. We found a 2006 Sentra with 20 miles on it. MSRP is 18,555. They were offereing 2500 cash back and 10% over NADA value on trade ins. So we called our bank which is USAA (for military members, reitred, ex-military only) and asked about a loan. Come to find out they will do the negotiating for you on your vehicle. I jumped all over that since I am a horrible negotiator. They got us into the vehicle for 15,200 including TT&L. Which is a pretty damn good deal if you ask me. They also got us 7,000 on trade in which its probably not worth a penny over 5 on trade in. Our interest rate is going to be 5.9%. Were just waiting on some final paperwork now.
So as far as a daily driver not to race, fix up or anything else what do you think of the sentra 1.8S sepcial edition? It has power windows, doors, moon roof, RF 300watt subwoofer, 7 speakers, keyless entry, 15" alloy wheels, 6 CD changer, its cloud white with black/grey interrior. Once everything is said and done and its officially mine i'll post some pictures.
Sounds like you got yourself a decent deal. I personally don't know much about them, I looked into Nissans before I got my Mazda, but nothing really made me commit to them at the time.
it's slow, and the interior is nowhere near as nice as that of the Spec V or SER edition. that said, it's a great commuter car.

I say go for it! They're a nice car.. My friend has a 02 sentra, and still loves it..
Red 2005 Saturn Ion-3 Coupe
18k for a 1.8S? Not bad thats still a sporty model.. I picked up my Spec V for 21,500 with 2200 incentive cash back.. It's in the high 28s range since I owed money on the Tiburon when I traded it in.. But thats fine I'll get her refinanced in a year and @!#$ will drop.
Had to change sig because some dickhead is mad it went 1 letter over size

After talking them down and rebate its 15 something. I wanted an SE-R so we could still have an auto and get the 2.5 but they didn't have any on the lot and its just a commuter so screw it. Can't really beat that price. My wife likes it better then the Corolla S and were getting it a lot cheaper. Getting ready to go down there in a few minutes and finish out the paper work. We've been driving it. I know its slow but the gas mileage is GREAT. Been nice so far. Drives great.
Well, we finished up the paperwork today and finalized everything. Were offically the proud owner of a 2006 Cloud White Special Edition Sentra.
It has the Audio Fanatic stero package which is 9 speakers with a RF 300watt power amped sub woofer, keyless entry, pwr windows, pwr door locks, 15" alloy wheels and some other junk. Drives great. I really like it. The white is really nice we originally wanted black but they didn't have a black one with the 3 way moon roof. All they had was the white. It grew on me fast though. Only plans in the near future is a cone filter (friend has a 1.8s and said it helped his gas mileage A LOT) tinted windows, and a new exhaust because my wife said it looks horrible. I've taught her well =P
I'll post pictures tomorrow.

Nice man ya mines missing the brake upgrade and the RF audio.... Ya they don't tend to keep too many SE-Rs on hand mine was the only Spec V on the lot let alone SE-R I got lucky it wasn't sold but the sales guy had held it for me so a definite plus

my friends girlfriend has one its not the 1.8S its just a 1.8. that thing cant get out of its own way if it tryed. but she likes it. we never take it out because its to small we take my cobalt. but for what the car was made for good gas miles and not alot of money its good.
Yea, its pretty small but not bad really. Once we put our car seat in the back my daughter has plenty of room. Theres plenty of room up front for us two. When we got the car it had 4 miles on it. We were getting 24.5 mpg. As we put more miles on it the gas mileage goes up. We have about 200 on it now and last night it just hit 27mpg. My friend with an 06 Spec-V who had an 05 1.8S before said it would do that until break in and stop at around 29 or 30. Which is great considering its rated at 28mpg city. He also told me if I dropped a good cone filter on i'd see another 1-3mpg.
As far as the trunk, its huge for the size of the car. We went grocerey shopping at spent almost 300 dollars on food and it all fit in the trunk. So not bad in that dept.
Its not fast by any means, but its not as bad as most are saying. It'll move out of its own way =P Just dont try to race anyone in it. The ride is really smooth though and it corners quiet well for being a cheaper car. So far were bothing really enjoying it a lot.

Yet the Cobalt is smaller in interior volume then the Sentra.

i've got an 02" sentra GXE with the QR18DE its no race car, it works though. gas milage is great. i'd put pics up , but i suck at the computer. im only 20 and this is my 2nd car, first one im paying for, so mods will be minimal. but there is literally no aftermarket for this engine. no point when you have the SE-R to work with right?? but at 6'4 my head is pretty much in the back window...
here's a pic of my GXE bone stock
