Yep... and new V8 too.
I told you all a couple of years ago that GM was working on a 3 valver, well here are the details. It is a 6.3L with 3 Over Head Valve per cylinder --- 1 exhaust, 2 intakes. It makes 470HP@6700 and 385lb-ft@ 5600. GM says with the extra valve it should increase power by 12%-19% over a 2 valve design.
Where is it going? GM has not said, but the small block is ready to go and can be put on a car or truck. I'll keep you posted.

New camaro engine maybe?
Red 2005 Saturn Ion-3 Coupe
i always thought GM hated the 3 valve idea , kinda the same with the V10's
lol
it would be cooler if they made that power out of a smaller engine
perhaps the chevelle motor since they need to bring the chevelle and el back to the roads.. and maybe the camaro motor lol

Will it have an ecotec badge on it?

I'm pretty sure that they're putting this engine in the new aveo.

Well, since my thread was locked, I'll post it in here. GM is making two motors. One is the motor above, the new 3 valve motor. It looks pretty rugged, and I expect it will show up in a truck, or the base V8 motor for the Camaro.
GM is also making a 3 valve twin cam motor. Did you hear that?
Twin cam overhead valve motor. This motor is pretty impressive, with
direct injection, it should yield quite afew ponies. GM has patented the motor, so I'm sure they are going to build it. What will it show up in? Camaro, Vette, something else?
These are a copy of the offical patents for the two new GM motors. If you look at the pics, the motor looks pretty thick, and should be pretty dependable.

It does look like GM could easily expand the size of the motor. A larger displacement motor could be in the works soon aswell...

did you even look at the pdf?
in big letters on page one of the first pdf it says SINGLE CAM 3 VALVE ENGINE OVERHEAD VALVE TRAIN
could this be going into the silverado SS/HD? seems like something that wouldn't work into the vette or the camaro's scheme but maybe a silverado with the wide tq range from the 3 vavle configuration
ok im confused, 2 valves on the exhaust to render more torque?
why not 4 valves per cylider?
all modern engines have OHV btw the only difference now is the location of the cams. Originally it differentiated from older engines with valves on the side. Lets just let the term OHV die out and leave it to pushrod and OHC.
I always considered OHV the ricer way of saying, it doesn't have direct cams but the valves are still on top. This has been expidited by ricers putting big OHV stickers on the sides of their cars.

Yes, I did read. The first two are the single cam, the third link is for the twin cam. It says at the top, in bold letters "Valve train for 3 valve twin cam engine" Then shows a picture below of a motor with two cams inside the block.
As I said in my post, the pics were for both motors.
