Good Friend Nearly Killed In A Crash. (pics)

Well.. His project car is gone, his b16a2 EG6 hatch = no more. I was right behind him and we were driving on an open country S bend as we always do and then it happens out of no where, an animal of a decent size (little smaller then a deer) pops out as we are about to hit a S shaped turn in the road, my buddy quickly adjusts and swerves the deer, and regaining control doing about 120km/hr, BUT then his front wheel catches some weak ashphalt and the road crumbles (literally chunks of ashphalt shoot up in the air), his back end slides out about 3 feet from this, his back tire catches the dirt and he loses control, the car swerves and fish hooks into the guard rail and flips rolling down a 15 foot drop/ steep hill) the car snapped 3 solid wooden beams as it goes down and lands on its roof. I was about 300 + meters behind him at the time. I almost instantly stop my car, throw on my 4 ways and jump down into the ditch/ ravine.. I am screaming for my good buddy hoping he is alive and nothing is wrong, I mean this is my best freind and this crash looked as if his number could be up... I call his name, then the car shuts off and he yells to me that he is ok, he gets out with a stiff neck and a cut elbow. The car.. Well as you can see is a complete body loss.

We ended up towing the car about 1km down the road to my buddys house and ended up tearing it apart, had it stripped in 3 hours flat, motor out ! suspension out ! Interior out ! Tail lights and headlights out as well. we basicly gutted the car, then removed the vins and cut the car to peices and dumped the scrap. The motro still runs like a champ, in mint condition. The oilpan did not even have any dents in it.

I have never felt such relief in my life when my buddy called back to me and got out ok, I felt really good at that point. AND to anyone about to call this car rice, please refrain from doing so. It had full bars all around (strut tower + sway), lowered suspension (eibach sportlines + AGX's), and good summer tires on. we have taken this turn FASTER many many times before, but a freak of nature event just made it nearly lethal.

Pictures of the car.

Engine was still great. WHICH was what we were most concerned about after finding out my buddy was ok.

(Snapped the guard rails on this side)

-We were also about to go to Shannonsville ofr a good time @ the track.. That will not be happening now.

oing about 120km/hr

Not sure what that is in MPH, but I'm sure it was WAY faster than should be done on a back road.

Glad you're buddy is okay, but maybe you guys should have saved the fast driving for the track....

-Reckless is street racing with people around who could be killed by your dumb actions, a spirited drive on a nice decently wide country backroad is not.

-He does have insurance but we said screw it, were not going to claim, no point really. We will just find a new shell, (another hatch) and just drop it in, 1500 $ for a good body with no rust ect.

But i am sorry for him, that looks like a nice car

It was a spirited drive which 95 % of you do everyday. I HAVE SEEN MUCH MUCH WORSE at JCO meets by many members, cutting off traffic, weaving between cars... I consider that much more dangerous then a little stint on a country road. I was alos a SAFE distance back from him, were not stupid, we keep our distance from each other in order to be safe, when you have a nice car, YOU want to enjoy it, and to me he has done so RESPONSIBLY. He has never street raced the thing, and he has been to a few motorways and had his fun on the track. IF you call this reckless, then you yourself are to most likely a reckless driver as well. period.

Spirted drive or not, it was illegal. Dont try to justify what he did by saying the rest of us do it.

I dont drive 75 on back country roads with bends...Good chance to hit AN ANIMAL...

You all want to save the soap box speaches for PM's, you are jacking this guy's thread.

NE ways, sorry to see the car like that, but it did it's job. Protected the driver. He should be counting his lucky stars right now! Glad he is ok.

No power steering, no abs, no ac, just an engine and a chassis lol. Our friend mike (toyota mechanic) had the rear suspension OFF the car in 8 minutes flat, no joke.

damn man. thats a pretty nasty crash. glad to hear your friend is ok. stiff neck and a banged up elbow is nothing considering the damage to the car... any plans on a cage for a next car?

btw, 3 hours completely stripped? thats some good time. how many people?
