New RWD V8 Hyundai Sedan.

So ya this is supposely the new hyundai sedan.

Quote:

With Hyundai enjoying solid success with its Sonata and Azera front-wheel drive sedans, the Korean automaker is looking to expand its reach upward to the larger margins in the near luxury segment.

To that end, the next generation Equus, a rear-wheel drive, eight cylinder sedan already available in other markets will debut in the US as a 2008 model. Captured hot weather testing by legendary sniper Hans Lehmann’s crew in the Southwest, the car is likely to continue Hyundai’s penchant for high levels of standard equipment and cut-rate pricing.

(Click through for more shots of the exterior and interior!)

According to Lehmann, the interior of the new Equus appears impressive, with a “handsome dash that would look at home in a big Mercedes or Lexus.” Naturally, wood trim and leather will be present and accounted for, with the prototype seen here making use of silver trim as well.Expect pricing in the low-to-mid $30,000 range, putting Equus within spitting distance of cars like the Acura TL and Audi A4.

wow, that's really cool news. If they continue to offer it with the 10/100,000 warranty that car will sell big time.

I'm quickly starting to like this company. If it has 300+hp it should be awesome.

Well it depends if Hyundai uses there 3.8 it will be around 270 but that is the V6 model i believe.. I've ready mixed things on the net some say it will have that motor others the V8.. But if they are testing a V8 model it may now even come with the V6 who knows.. But with any luck it would be nice to see the V8 model with over 300HP. Even with a V6 and 270HP thats up there with the Altima 3.5 the new camry and accord.

If this is the Hyundai's RWD, I understand that this will be in the category of the G35 sedan.

if the car is already available in other markets, why don't they have a picture of it without the baggies... or do those come standard?

I work on Wall Street, but didn't force you to take out a loan you couldn't afford.

Jeff,

If you have ever read the fine print of the "contract" when you are buying the car, you will notice that you are actually PAYING for the 10 year 100K warranty just like how Kia does it. When my parents bought their Kia, there was an extra section which said extended 10 year 100K warranty for 1779.00 or something in those lines. When my parents told the dealer, they did NOT want that warranty, the dealer turned around and said "unless you are paying in cash for the car, our finance company, will NOT allow us to sell any cars with out this warranty in there" Now, don't think it has anything to do with bad credit or what not, because that is not the case at all. I personally think, since the general public is just so dumb, when they see something like that, they jump all over it. Personally, I think its a waste but thats just me.

Karo are you serious? I don't know the details on the Hyundai warranty, but now you got me curious.... kinda like a buyer beware?

That vid was funny, but so messed for the Hyundai guys.
The car really moved too, looks like it is going to be a quick car.

What use is a warrenty if the car is always in the shop?

I agree, the safety net that a warrenty provides is re-assuring during a vehicle purchase ... but I'd much rather purchase a vehicle with a known track record of reliability (after researching, of course)

As for a RWD Hyundai ... cool.

Are you still living in the pre 03 models of Hyundai? I take it you haven't notice that Hyundais/Kias are very reliable cars and ranked up there with Toyota in build quality..

Really it comes in handy to do research before inserting your foot in your mouth..

As far as the Warranty goes keep in mind that dealerships will add there little extras to it and tell you that it is required.. Hense a story someone posted on the org about a car dealer trying to charge her a extra fee which was illegal. I purchased my 03 Tiburon from a GM dealership used the warranty didn't cost anything to me Lojack did but that was the only extra tacked on.. I've had quite a few friends buy new Hyundais and not have the extra warranty tacked on..

If it is 1800 for a 100k mile powertrain warranty thats great what other car company will stand behind the car for 100k miles or 10 years that they are so sure it will last.. Note most is 50k miles and you have to tack on a extended warranty and those are gone in 5 years.. Just some to think about a warranty that lasts 10 years or 100k miles does show that the car maker stands behind the product they are putting out.

Oh I'd like to point out my 03 Tiburon had about 33-36k miles on it when I got it. She now has close to 60k miles on it and is still running strong only issue I have to take it to the dealership for is my sunroof interior panel broke from me slamming it shut one morning.

On the same note my 03 LS Sport Cav spent more time in the dealership for issues then my Tiburon.. Given most of the issues were electrical and AC and trans.. Whic of course the clutch was never looked at since they declined it was bad even though torwards the end it was extremely soft to push down.

Yes ... because long term reliability can be assessed within 3years.

If you were trying to convince me of something, it didn't work.

Now, if during my research for a brand new shiny econo-box it so happens Hyundai is at the top of the list ... good for them ... I'll look into it. The point you should be taking away from my previous post, is that a Ten Billion Mile Warrenty wont exactly be a big selling point for me.

Uh once again a long warranty does prove they stand behind there product it would be something else to say a 1-3 year warranty it's not screaming hey we stand behind the product we are putting out that we are so sure it will not fall apart we are only offering 3 years and 30k miles.
