The covers at least aren't the giganto-ass-f**k vinyl and styrofoam underneath.
The Vinyl is pretty good for breaking up long-view lenses, but I think these were shot at a medium range.

They are there to hide the shape, and body lines of the car. It is harder for the camera to capture it.
Looks like it might be RWD judging by the dirt being kicked up cool if so. (somebody else may know for sure I don't know jack about what platform it is being built ont)

That is without a doubt RWD...so that is the next Impala. besides the Malibu is already new...whereas the Impala is still an old design.
It looks like the guy is yelling and flipping off the photographer in the one head on picture. LOL I remember once at a supermarket parking lot in Michigan i came out and a car was all disguised like that (it was the last generation Ford Escort sedan) anyway it was about a year and a half away from being introduced and the guy driving it went ape $hit on me for stopping and looking at it. he told me to get lost. i was ready to beat his head in because his atitude was way out of line. Years later my cousin tells me that when guys driving those test mules get their picture taken they get in huge trouble. It's a big part of their job to NOT let people check the cars out.

the current malibu is on the epsilon plat form same with the saab 9 3 and the G6 this is the new malibu because the new impala is RWD and is going to look like the 1967 impalas did. the malibu is geting done over and made bigger to take on the camery and the accord. look at those pics then look at the new Aura the have the same sides.

the new malibu is being built bigger and better then the current one. its going to have the 6 speed auto tranny there is also going to be a 2.4L hybrid come out with it. the motors are 2.4, 3.5 and 3.6

Wow, I think this looks a lot nicer than the current Malibu that is out (From what I can tell and imagine without the masking)
teh front looks like the new Camry. just the way the grille is so big. i like the way it looks.
