Teh car that replaced the cavy... (no56k)
Monday, July 24, 2006 4:10 AM
This was a long time ago, like may, i just never felt like posting. But i just got home from work (3rd shift), and i am kinda bored. Anyway I traded in the cavy, i knew there was stuff wrong with the car, i didn't want to sell it personally and have the buyer bitchin that things broke, and i couldn't make myself part it out. I got my hands on a 1993 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin Turbo AWD, all options, power windows, power seats, leather, All wheel steering, electronic suspension control, climate control, you name it and it's probably in the car. For any Car buffs, you'll know it's a 3000gt VR4 with a few slight body changes and a Dodge badge. Only mods thus far is a Greddy Type RS BOV (stock leaked bad), and the wheels on it were in bad shape so i sanded the paint off em, polished the lip and painted the spokes and such black(not all done yet, still need to do passenger sides), lastly my custom sub box i built(i know the subs suck lol). I do have plans for it, but i have to decide what i want to do to it and still have it sensible to be driving at college in a month. And yes in the auto x pics there is damage on the passenger side, someone hit me 3 weeks ago, but that's all fixed and pretty now, and the screws on trhe box aren't in the whole way cause those were too short and i used them to mark the holes till i got bigger ones.

Now:

Right after i bought it:

car looks great im very jealous. The only thing i would say is if there is an easy way to swap the 3kgt front end on there i would do that, outside of that good luck w/ it, it really has a @!#$ load of potential.

ehhh alright cars if you can take the engine out and do all the work yourself! Besides that, the vr4/stealth r/t's and 300zx's I stay away from.

Anybody ever see the remake of smokey and the bandit with the dodge stealth in it? Ever since that movie I've loved those cars.

As cool as an idea that is... it is really expencive, i looked at putting the newwer style 3kgt front end on it, and it would cost the better part of 3k or more till it's said and done.

idk what you guys are talkin about... the motors bottom are said to be able to hold 7-800hp... The only thing that sometimes goes bad if you beat the car, or don't take care of it is rod bearings, and they can be changed from the underside of the car i am told.

Another thing i found interesting was in that auto x event, i was matched up with a classic ferrari testerosta, he was the only other guy in my class. I lost but alittle under a second to him but i like saying i kept up with a testerosta

Id have to agree but disagree with this statement. Granted, I've never owned any one of these cars, so I dont know their "major" problems. But its all about how you treat your car. If you race your car from stop light to stop light, then you cant expect your car to last very long.

Just take care of it and it will take care of you. And this goes for every car!

yeah, lol i do. i ran out of sand paper, and just havn't had time to get more. I work 2 jobs and any of the remaining time is spent with the girl. Unless someone is very observant, they don't notice. since you can only see one side of the car at a time. Although my dad did just pick up more paper for me, so i'll pry finish them soon, just not looking forward to the 3 hours+ of work per wheel. And the last wheel i did, the paint fisheyed like i have never seen, and i have no idea why. i had to do like 13-14 reaaaallly light coats to get it to stay smooth. And i don't have another set to put on the car, so when the wheels are drying, i am grounded

I think the wheels look a lot better now that you painted them. Not a fan of how those cars look, but I bet it is a lot of fun to drive around in. Enjoy!

heck yeah man, i wasn't even looking for this one. i was just shopping around looking for something that hit me as something i wanted. I knew i wanted to get out of front wheel drive, and i kinda wanted out of the 4cyl. hell i didn't even know Stealths came twin turbo. i walked up to the thing on a lot and was like "...the hell is that" cause it looked like a 3000gt kinda but a buddy has one and i knew it wasn't the same.

Not stock you can't, you have to do the "snake eye" mod, you put a switch in the wire that sends the signal for the headlights to go up when the lights are turned on. that way when the switch is off they won't come up but the lights will come on. I'ma gonna do the mod eventually, just too lazy to run wires...

I think I saw your old car recently. I was getting ready to ride the bike trail off of 283 when I heard some crazy loud exhaust & when I looked I saw a chameleon Cav. The new car looks way cleaner, nice change.
