Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge
I consider Edmunds a joke, but this video showed these behemoths running through its paces, which was funny to watch.

I saw another comparison.

The GTI Mark V against the Civic, and the Civic won, for what I thought was loose reasons... but that's just me.

I just picked up a 2500HD last monday... I love it. It isn't the diesel though... The same truck was exactly twice as much money (same mileage, options etc.) I got the 8.1 gas with the Allison tranny. It is the LT, loaded, and it came with 20's to boot!

Here is a pic of my sweetheart:
I have since removed all the trim and badges. It looks way cleaner now.

How old is the Duramax vs the others?

Forget about the Isuzu issue, to my knowledge, the Duramaxes are "rated" to 225K miles, and have only been on the road for what... 2-3 years?

I don't know about the reliability issues, but I've yet to hear a bad word from any of my contractor friends that use GM Diesel pickups. Any engine is going to need maitenance, and will have a product life expecatancy, but seriously, getting uptight about rated life when talking about the GM's, and then extolling the virtues of the easily double-rated life expectancy of the other engines is silliness.

Sounds to me like the author of that page has some sort of Union contract in which GM is not included.

Dunno, just looks like Union propoganda to me.

L92? The engine in that silverado is an LBZ

But if that was just a simple off-topic remark based on the fact GM engines are leet, then yes, the L92 is awesome.

my fav part of the video was the silverado on the slalom

because there isnt always 1 variant of cubic inches. The LQ4, LQ9 and LS2 are all 364 cubic inch engines. So if you said you had a 364 cubic inch engine you could have either one.

Why would it be Union Propoganda?

Beacuse the Duramx engine isn't Union made?

Well it is Union made IUE-CWA local 797. It is basically across the street from my house and my wife used to work than a few of my friends do now.

That guy in the article just has sumething stuck up his ass.

I have the d-max in my work truck and love it. My truck also weighs 16,000 lbs and the engine has no problem pulling it. As far as that article I don't care what he sells because theres guarantee to be someone else that says the same thing about the power stroke or Cummings.

I love the dodge for one reason, its the only truck to have a TRUE diesel, the chevy and the ford just have moded V8 blocks with diesel pistions and heads. yea i have truck feaver now im thinking about picking up a 98-03 ram 2500 cummins. My friend jeff has one 6 speed and chipped with a intake 500hp and 800Ftlbs. and sctualy tyhe dodge is the oldest HD truck, they have used the same cummins engine since 1979 i think its just changed over the years(bigger turbo ext).

That article was sooo full of s-h-i-t.
Does he know that Duramax is used in medium duty trucks from GM 4500, 5500 and Isuzu etc?
I was at the GM press release in 2001 where they dyno tested, sounded tested, had dodge/ ford for competition. Also we able to drive them back to back.

Duramax was so far ahead in sophistication. The smog test showed lower levels, dyno pulled substantial more then the other two, and best of all the sound meter clearly showed less decibels then the rest. VERY impressive!!!!!!

Best move that GM could have done was to drop the old Detroit Diesel and use this. Not because it was lousy, but because the Duramax was so much more advanced and prepared for the future.

And I don't know if you guys heard, but Ford's/International's Diesel are sooo freaking plagued with problems. Ford has recalled Power Stroke-equipped Super Duty trucks at least three times, bought back as many as 500 vehicles that could not be fixed and issued at least 60 technical bulletins to dealerships. Ford is going to be using Piezo injectors, same as Benz's new coming diesel and it should improve reliability

And Dodge's Cummin's although robust and powerful too. It can't match the refinement, power (stock), fuel consumption, cleanliness of the Duramax.
Now I have been in situations where these Quad cab Duallies Rams were neck and neck with me when I was racing my old Z06 at Moroso... And I was in the mid-high 12s and they still had their construction advertisement on their doors too.

Duramax has been impressive to say the least.

I work on the intertrashonal every day. There is a reason we call it the interTRASHional. That is the worst diesel engine by far. I actually like the cummins turbo diesel. It may not be the best but I like it. The Duramax is a great engine to drive, work on, and maintain.

the article didn't deny that the duramax is an amazing engine. it just stated that it only has a life expectancy of around 250k miles.
